On ebay you can get a $40/£30 fast 2.6ghz, low-energy, AMD 4-core 910e cpu. (There is also the very slightly slower 610e which is virtually identical but has no level 3 cache.) They'll do everything quickly except long 1080p video encoding. They even play modern games at 720p or 1080p. Get an AM3/AM3+ motherboard for them and DDR3-1333 MHz. They can play Battlefield 1 at 1080p. They run at a similar speed to the Athlon 620, which has youtube gaming videos made of it. I use the 610e with a 2015 64-bit Linux operating system, comparable to Windows 10 in size. With all my software running at the same time like Opera & Firefox browsers, Libreoffice suite, GIMP photo editor it uses 12% on all four cores. When viewing 360p KZbin videos it rises to 35% on all cores, the same as viewing 1080p video on my media player. There is also the cheaper 400e which is a low-energy 3-core. I've also noticed that with desktop RAM for AMD it's half the price it is for Intel. Traditionally budget motherboards for AMD tended to be cheaper than those for Intel. i can cofirm that this dramatization isn't too far off from the truth. My 1800x can run Overwatch inside a match and WoW on a 2nd monitor together without breaking 25% CPU utilization. But cutting 4K video rendertimes to less than 1/4 compared to a 2600K system is why i love it even more, because that increase of free time the PC isn't doing things is where i get the extra time for gamign from ;)

OW in 1080p is fine, OW has a really bad mouse input problem and the best way to remedy that is to just cut down what it cost to put it at a stable desired fps and drop down a resolution/ or graphical sets/preset

That CPU is nice; but can you overclock and give me 6.2 or 7.4 GHZ under full load on BF 4 or BF 1 at 165 to max 201 FPS and running at 4K or 7680 x 4320 max. It's actually fine on B75. Throw an i7 or Xeon E3 (second-hand, i5 if poor). Overclock. (B75 has a SATA 6Gbps port) Install an SSD. 8 or 16GB of RAM.

I have an FX 9590/32GB DDR3 2400/R9 Fury X and A Ryzen Threadripper 1950X/16GB DDR4 3600/Vega 64 Liquid Edition. I have swapped the cards around and haven't really noticed a difference in gaming on both rigs.

Reda Iguesteineen Yes, and actually my FX handles the Vega64 slightly better at 4K but that could be because the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU and forcing the GPU to work harder. As for the Fury X it can't do many games at max settings using 4K resolution.

:D funny video ! But I would like to see something like a difference in video rendering times etc.... CPUs do not offer big improvements on games, if however you already had a decent CPU. If you go from a Celeron to a 1800X obviously there is no competition. I have a 4790K and a GTX 1070, and in games I have litteraly no problems running everything. The thing is, I would like an even faster CPU for when I am doing video/photo rendering/editing. You can NEVER have too much power. :D

I'm always a bit hesitant about upgrading or new builds because I don't want to throw my money at something that turns out to be an overhyped piece of shit, I wait for the reviews, price reductions and real world performance benchmarks. I have no regrets in waiting for this one, yes it has been a long time but totally worth it. Just got my Ryzen 1800X, ASrock Taichi X370 and my Vengance DDR4 through, can't wait for my GTX 1800X ti fe to start building.
