What It Is Like To Overdose on Adderall

I've been prescribed Adderall for 9-10 years now and, have always had a love/hate relationship with the drug. During those times that I'm "Loving" it, it really feels like its helping me, after like a week of taking it and feeling good, for some reason I start to feel guilty for having to rely on a medication to feel "Normal".... so then I end up talking myself out of taking it and find myself back in the same rut I started in, Just feel so lost and scared to talk to anyone about it.

Good that you’re talking about it. I’m sure a lot of people in this comment section including myself can identify with you. I had similar thoughts and really started question whether it was actually helping me, so I thought about what were some ways I could track my productivity and overall quality of life. I like to see certain things in black and white, for a while I was uneasy about if I was really benefitting or if maybe it was just feelings & dopamine.

try talking to your psychiatrist about changing to a medication with a different balance of D and L amphetamine, i had the same issues and switched to 100% D amphetamine (Dexedrine) wheras Adderall is 75% D and 25% L, instant fix for me but some people i know who also had that issue found a 50/50 mix was ideal (adzenys)

Trying to eat healthier: lot’s more fruits and veggies and my focus is better-ish. I did Adderall and then Vyvanse up to 50-60mg

I’ve been taking adderall since I was 17 and I’m 31f now. I have been abusing my meds for years. (60-120 mg sometimes more) daily. I don’t take breaks, not on weekends. Not when I’m sick. Didn’t even take a break when I was pregnant although I felt I finally had something to live for but ended up miscarrying….. Interesting you bring up the come down being much more with those excessive dosages. I’m losing my mind in tears and obsessions about my appearance and my self worth/ beauty rituals and bullshit. I started a job as a mail carrier to prep myself for a potential quitting of this stuff( I know it might take years for me to even smile again and I’m petrified because of these extremely insufferable obsessions with my outward appearance and how far behind in life… thank you for what you do

I was addicted in my early 20s all started fine but I started taking more and more until I was taking at minimum 3-4 30 mg a day. I took like 6 or 7 one day and had a panic attack my heart beating out of my chest pacing around the house trying to calm down, felt like I was gonna die. That’s the day I stopped taking it. Take it as prescribed. Once you start taking more than your supposed to it will never be the same.

My extreme doses of adderall sent me into a comedown from hell. I cant speak for meth, never gone there, but for me it was an absolutely profound sense of dread, depression, angry outbursts, suicidal thoughts, extreme body aches, jaw was so sore from being clenched that its painful to eat, tounge is raw, gums hurt, sharp kidney pain, restlessness, anxiety, etc. 2 or 3 days later, i start feeling better and start to forget how dark that place was, and the urge to do it again for the high returns, cycle repeats. This has been my life for the last 3 years. A 48 hour bender was usually between 300 to 350 mg of a mixture of instants and XRs. Whatever i could get from a few sources.

why not try the xr? one dose a day is easier to remember plus not the constant up and down. i'm on dexadrine which is chemically very similar to Adderall is just a mix of two amp salts. Ive been on it for over a year and im a dose it just stabilizes me but I'm still not very productive just calmer just scared to change it

It's better to just redose an instant release, particularly with stimulants. You don't want extended release if you want optimal sleep, unless you time it so that your dose is way before sleep(8-12hrs). Same applies to caffeine, etc.

Alright so I know this is a rather old comment, but my advice is that if your friends will cut you out if their lives over an addiction you have, they aren’t your friends. I view it the same as someone getting judged for having a mental problem like depression or anxiety. Because in my eyes that’s just what addiction is, a mental battle a lot of people go through. Hope your doing better now anyway and good luck with your friends. I promise you this, if they can’t support you because of your own problems doesn’t mean nobody else will. There are people who understand and will support you.

Overcoming addiction can be a hard road that people who have not gone through, usually don't understand but they will see a much better version of you on the other side. Talk to friends or family who love you and care about you and will give you the ecouragement to work through it without shaming you. Getting clean is an act of self love. Know that you are worth it. Your description of overdose is a bit off. In my opinion. Just say when I abuse this drug and take more than prescribed I don’t like where it takes me mentally and I feel like shit because what I’m basically doing is relapsing. Which in turn makes me feel shame and guilt. Been there.

I’ve doubled my adderall XR 30mg a time or two. It didn’t help a massive amount. But it was a test to see if it was even the right drug. I’ve doubled my vyvanse a number of times and was almost abusing it for the energy. It caused a high heart rate and me to flush. But the energy was great for long drives lol. Switched off it now and all out of the vyvanse so I won’t be tempted to do that again. But I do still have some of the adderall left and hopefully I don’t feel tempted to abuse it like I was starting to for the vyvanse.

For example, your 70 mg of vyvanse is closer to a 35/40 mg of Adderall. It's normal for most everyone to be speedy on 60 mg of Adderall. The time I took almost 200 mg of Adderall throughout 1 day, I was surprised to find myself winding up incredibly tired hahah

I used too recreationally take 80 MG of adderall 20 MG pills. Never had an overdose untill i took 420 MG of vyvanse expecting the intensity too be less. Ended up having "mini seizures" and flown through a helicopter 4 hours away driving distance too washington DC in childrens national hospital. It was scariest experience ever hallucinations , paranoia i was running around the street thinking people were following me and people were trying too kill me. Ended up having a kidney injury and no long term effects of it i think so. I now take 50 MG of vyvanse everyday and gets me through the day

60mg hardly effects me unfortunately. I also used to be an addict. Maybe that's why. I don't get any dopamine rush. The addict in me says I wish. My doc doesn't wanna go higher and from what I read I agree. I think I just need to take breaks more. Which is challenging because I like feeling like a normal person that can do things more. He didnt just jump me to 60 though. I started at 20. Then 40. Then 60. I tried to do 40 many days and 60 some days. Now I just do 60 at once in the AM. I do take a vasodilator l-arginine to keep blood flow non restricted. I take magnesium as well as b complex/ multivitamins and stay hydrated and eat. But I wish it worked as good as it did originally.

I just found your channel. Thank you for doing this. You're helping a lot of people just by talking and I personally really appreciate it. I'm 41 and I've been taking adderall for about 6 years. I have taken as much as 30mg a day (two 15mg tablets) but I've lowered it to 15mg, which has been my daily dose for a few years now. I'm getting to the point, though, where I think it's time I start tapering off. Today I took 3/4 of my usual dose (11.25 mg) and I am now at the end of the day feeling a slight increase in anxiety. I'd like to continue to gradually take less over the next serval months. I'm nervous I've gained an addition and want to get to the point where I'm no longer dependent on it. I've also developed a cannabis habit (for about 5 years) wherein I vape about .5 grams a day and/or the equivalent in edibles. In fact, it was the cannabis that initially helped me reduce my adderall dosage, but I also want to wean off of that. 20 mg of ER or XR medication works well for me. It makes a big difference in my day-to-day life. Everyone should have access to the correct medication dosage, and it's essential to consult with medical professionals to find what works best for each individual. When I don't need to concentrate or feel unwell, I don't feel the need to take it as it's not necessary at those times. Yeah, and I've seen kpeople who take them for fun, and it’s not good. They then act like a motor that’s running because they don’t have ADHD, while someone with ADHD actually will calm down, and remember things and focuses and concentrates like normal. Yes please don’t take it for fun and abuse drugs.

Ask your Dr. To prescribe you some instant release Adderall also, that you can take later in the day. That's what my Dr. did for me I take three 30mgXR's and two 15mg Instant release. I usually take 60mgXR in the morning, & then 30mgXR + 30mg instant release in the evening. Some people simply develop a high tolerance for Adderall. Alot of Dr.'s refuse to admit that though.

Damn I just took 330mg and almost ODed right now what sucks is I didn’t feel high I just been taking them for a week now and I stopped getting affects after the 3rd day so today I took 11 total within 4 hours and heart started pounding vision went blurry, ears ringing super hard ended up getting cold, shivering heart was going from probably 120bpm to 70bpm fluctuating every 30ish seconds hands went all white even under my nails and my lips went white at one point I basically just had my friend watch over me and drank like 10 big ass bottles of water still don’t feel well now but man don’t be stupid like me I’m currently using adderall as a substitute from my coke addiction comedown I’ve heavy used for 3 months and I just cold turkeyd it and i was chasing these adderall right now to get a high but don’t feel shit from it now so i thought my body was just processing it to fast. Don’t get into upper addictions is my advice it will put you in the hospital just this year alone I’ve been to the hospital about 30 times and still don’t learn my lesson and the thing is I don’t even want to do drugs i just don’t feel normal when sober I have heavy a.d.d and uppers make me feel normal just suck it up and don’t touch it

I’ve been taking adderall since I was 17 and I’m 31f now. I have been abusing my meds for years. (60-120 mg sometimes more) daily. I don’t take breaks, not on weekends. Not when I’m sick. Didn’t even take a break when I was pregnant although I felt I finally had something to live for but ended up miscarrying….. Interesting you bring up the come down being much more with those excessive dosages. I’m losing my mind in tears and obsessions about my appearance and my self worth/ beauty rituals and bullshit. I started a job as a mail carrier to prep myself for a potential quitting of this stuff( I know it might take years for me to even smile again and I’m petrified because of these extremely insufferable obsessions with my outward appearance and how far behind in life… thank you for what you do
