Captain, you did your Delos Fan Base proud! 💪Absolutely, the best history and background introduction to the Canal. I'm so happy to witness the monumental event. You've set in motion the last leg of completion of your circumnavigation. 👏So freaking cool! 😎I'm giddy.

This episode is an excellent distillation of Delos canal crossing with great videography and editing. It was wonderful having Jordan onboard to concentrate on the videography so we were able to see more of your enjoyment of the transit. There were times when I thought your faces were going to crack from all the smiling! Having watched the transit in real time and this episode I urge anyone who hasn't seen the livestream to view it. There are some great moments that didn't make it into the episode such as the kid on the catamaran ducking just in time to avoid getting hit by the ball and line thrown down from the lock wall! 😕 Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! ⛵❤️😁

And the award for cutest line handler to ever transit the Panama Canal goes to Sierra. She is accumulating so many great life experiences thanks to her wonderful parents. Great episode. Lots of great history and interesting facts. Looking forward to the second half of the transit.

This is primetime TV production quality guys, by far the best we've ever seen from Delos! Hats off to Brian for the brief history on the panama canal that was incredibly well put together and gave just enough information to give the journey context. Loved it mate! P.S. So glad to see Jordan back aboard a boat after her terrible incident in Australia! That takes courage Jordan well done!! Jordan is an incredible addition to the Delos team with her huge wealth of experience editing, Diving, sailing and being a fantastic KZbin host. I hope she can stay a part of the crew for a long time to come :)

This video is AWESOME! I can't even fathom how much work went into this perfect made video. It totally checks all the boxes. When Brian sent me a message asking me to go through the Panama Canal with them, I didn't hesitate for a second to say yes. Watching this recap video of our journey through the canal was great as I was working the live stream all night and didn't get a chance to take in what was going on around me. Again, the detail and the editing of this video is SO GOOD! I think it is a perfect match having Jordan doing the videoing and editing. I'm telling you, she busts her butt everyday to make the videos look the way they do. I can't say enough good things about this entire crew. Marcos the line handler was such a good guy. He spent the night with us on Gatun Lake. This is an event that I will never forget! Thanks again Brian and Karen for the call!

Hey Delos crew! Thank you so much Brian for all the back history. That was really fascinating! I have an Organ that came around the horn at the turn of the century. So my guess is it was before the Panama Canal which was pretty interesting to put into perspective. That had to be kind of nerve-racking being tied up with two other boats going through there. You did it like a champ! What an exciting once in a lifetime experience. Or maybe not for you maybe you’ll do it again to go the other way. It made me all Teary-eyed when you gave the solar unit to the inhabitants. You made their lives so much easier. What a wonderful thing. Sierra just makes me so happy. She is so darn cute and has the best attitude! Easy-going. Just love her to pieces. Love to all of you and safe travels. May your sails be full and the wind at your back. Love from California💜😎🤟🏻🇺🇸

After 7 years of following you guys ive finally bought my own sailboat, saved up everything that was left in the end of the month for a couple of years and was finally able to become debt free and bought a small sailboat with what was left, its a 20ft Dufour Jidzo, Sailing the lakes of the Netherlands for now until i can upgrade to a bigger boat ^^ i can say that with minimal sailing experience that ive learned ALOT from watching this channel and others like it, after couple of days i got the hang of it and gave a almost nostalgic feeling like ive done it before without having it done before. Still cranking up the song "The Naked and Famous - Punching in a dream" while under sail :D From the bottom of my heart, Thanks for the experience to make this pipedream of mine work!

Of all the episodes I've watched of Delos, this is by far my favourite. I'm a grown 55 year old guy and your adventures nearly had me in tears. Lots of information about weather, history and the present challenge of getting through the Panama canal was FANTASTIC. I didn't know they made cleats THAAAT big. Wow!! They made the guide sleep there, what terrible folks. The love and fun that leapt out of this video were amazing. THANK YOU for giving us all a glimse into your adventurous lives.....loved the wee one pulling your hair. Kids/grand kids still love to to that to my badger hair. Marcos was the cool dude. GREAT WORK.

So happy yall shared your passing with us. Little Nugs passing through at such a young age a d. Ha ING this video to show her later is so awesome! Please put out longer ideas, we all loved this one! Again, thank you for the research & amazing factoids! Initially, I was 'bummed out' that SV Delos was being charged $2,200.00 for the transit- completely ignoring the engineering marvel at hand. 85' feet is a long way up & down for a 53' foot double masted vessel is family, gear, stores & crew aboard! I love how you bring crew together for adventures, pass through the mourning phase of leaving magical places & keep your vessel in truly working vessel ready for anything- it's a pleasure to see the reality of sailing 80,000 miles (without completing a circumnavigation no less!) Teamwork makes the dream work, Brian, Karin & baby nugget! Editors, B roll, cutting floor shots- not easy! But, genuinely appreciated!
@Sommers2342 жыл бұрын
Why would you have a problem with Delos being charged for Transit.
@DCGULL012 жыл бұрын
@@Sommers234 That was purely selfish! The last time I heard, it was $500 for transit, but- you had to perform some of the effort! Now, I would like to transit in the next few years, and $2,200 seemed a little 'spensive for lil Ole me! I knew that it 'cost', I just didn't know how much it cost!

Just over 40 years ago I graduated from Balboa High School in Panama. It was an amazing place to live and seeing your transit it brings back memories and views of things that are new and different. Fun facts: the canal is 100% run with fresh water from the abundant rain fall in Panama, William Gorgas led the way to eradicate yellow fever and malaria from Panama which was the prime killer of workers during the French Cut and the American locks, and the earth extracted from the canal put in rail cars could circle the globe 7 times and was used to fill in the swamps around Balboa, Panama City, and laid the foundation for the causeway on the Pacific side. Panama is also where I first got to sail on a yacht owned by the parents of one of my friends. Great video and thanks for sharing!

Truthfully I love you guys, like everyone else does… Bryan, like every other dude out here I dream of the day that I could afford any boat, let alone something as unattainable/beautiful/priceless as Delos… You guys have carved out one of the most amazing lifestyles I have could ever imagine possible. Thank you for giving me something to hope for. That said don't leave! Lol. Now I'm just kidding but I hope to see you guys back there next year or the year after… Please also tell me that you guys aren't going to give up! You're not going back home and ending it are you? That baby has the best memories A child could ever have! I remember when I used to grow up every year we will go one week of year to Chincoteague Island Virginia one week! Lol. I never want to leave… It was always the best week out of the year… Hundred people who got to go for the whole summer I couldn't believe that was even possible let alone living there! But her little brain she will always be a little pirate! Lol she will always have those sea legs and she always yearn for the ocean because that's her home lol. Anyway sorry for talking your ear off but I hope to God you guys are going to Hawaii I was hoping that Polynesian islands were next in your sights and you were just gonna turn that boat around just like in Captain Ron where they were going home to sell it lol. I love you guys genuinely I don't know you at all but I love you guys to death! I hope to God you guys keep this going for another 20 lol we will be there for you for all of it! I wish you the best cheers

I have made the canal transit twice. Did it in 2006 and again in 2010. First time on my 28' Cape Dory. How fun was that with six people on board a 28 footer? Lots. Did it side tied to a 32' steel Tahitiana. Second time on my 36' S2 11c. Did this transit solo, no other small boats available. Much easier and much roomier. Had four different Advisors. Each a pleasure to work with and very professional. Line handlers were all volunteers from the marina. Back then costs were more reasonable about US$600 and US$800 approximately. Miss the Panama Canal Yacht Club. It was torn down to make room for container handling facilities. Have a great continued passage and let all your troubles melt like lemon drops.

I lived in Panama in the 70s when I was a toddler and my dad was in the military. My dad's now working for the Army Corps of Engineers...by operating one of the lock on Lake Okeechobee in Florida. So, although I don't remember the locks from the 3 years I lived in Panama, I'm very familiar with locks now after spending many, many, many hours watching my dad operate them. These little locks fascinate me as an adult. I can't begin to imagine how huge the massive locks in Panama have to be!

I went through the canal about 5 years ago on a cruise ship and it was fantastic. The night before the transit, a representative of the canal came on board and gave a presentation about the construction and operation of the canal. Wow, the people who figured out how to make it all work were absolutely brilliant. There is a documentary on the Public Broadcasting Service in the U.S. that is excellent. It goes farther into detail past what Brian showed us. By the way Brian, really great job. If you have a chance to view the PBS show, it's well worth your time.
