I've been daily driving a 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS since I purchased it in 2002. Over the years, I have done all the repairs and maintenance myself, and sometimes with the help of a friend. Early on in the ownership of my Prelude, the engine broke a rod, but fortunately the damage was not catastrophic.. Performed a rebuild with a used crankshaft and set of New Old Stock connecting rods (fortunate finds), rod and crank bearings, 3 new valves, and all the other parts needed to refresh the engine such as rings, gaskets, seals, timing components and clutch set were installed, along with a very mild port & polish on the cylinder head intake and exhaust runners while waiting for parts. The engine has been extremely reliable with basic maintenance and periodic tune-up over the years. Around 2009, I replaced the aging exhaust with a full stainless 4-2-1 OBX Header, and stainless 2.5" Catback exhaust from Legal Speed Designs (LSD), which has, in my own opinion, the most desirable exhaust note of any catback system available for the Prelude. I have often driven newer and more powerful vehicles, which are sometimes fun and certainly faster, but I always find the handling dynamics of the Prelude to be highly satisfying. It is a really enjoyable and rewarding car to own, drive and maintain.

It's actually a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" on all safety restraints and harnesses, but in the manual it states for the "Useful life of the vehicle" so depending on the condition of the vehicle and the dealership service department's discretion, they may or may not do this service under warranty. I plan on asking my local Honda dealer for this repair on my 1988 Prelude 2.0Si 4WS, but I'm waiting until I repair a couple of body issues before I take it in, to reduce the chance of refusal. I was an original owner of a 1988 si prelude. It was automatic. Drove it daily for 17 years, 186,000 miles. I never ever had a transmission problem.

I dailyd mine for years but I recently bought a civic to share the load on the lude lol but I’m in Cali :) also my seatbelts never lock either...
@ConnorLee3 жыл бұрын
Curious. Does your speedo work in the lude? Apparently, they only engage if you're traveling over 5 mph. My speedo doesn't work so I dont know how the car will know that I am moving and to engage the seatbelts during an accident

Hey man, looking to replace my pop up headlights on my 89 accord, any tips?
@ConnorLee2 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the same LED ones I have would fit up on the Accord. Ive never had a pop up Accord to mess with so not totally sure. My headlights are 5"x7"

I wish! My door sticker doesn’t match the color of my prelude unfortunately. I’ve been told it might be an older bmw color

Watching your video sitting in my 2nd Gen Prelude with no AC here in CA in 90° weather. No cup holders is a bummer. Cup trays FTW! Your videos do provide inspiration and confidence owning these Gems. I appreciate every upload you do on your Lude, keep it up Brotha! Much love from Northern Cali!

Inspect for rust. Check the trunk near the taillights. Look for leaks and dampness around motor/trans. Ask when timing belt was last changed!
