Brooklyn here! But I rep my City periodt!! I recently left Atlanta and couldn’t deal with that mentality. Here in Richmond Virginia- closer to home but Nyc is very congested. I get my fill and go to a quiet 🤫 place..

Great way to capture what growing up black in different cities looks like. Being raised in the south by parents who were from NY and were raised in two of the worse projects in Brooklyn...the stories they’ve told me from the 60s, 70s, and 80s were eye opening. I’m glad this type of content is being shared for the world to see.

Another awesome episode, VH1!!! As a fellow NYer, I resonate with everything shared. There's a synergy in NY like no other place. I want to shout out all the gems shared in this video-- if you're not aware of what the three-fifths clause was or the dehumanization of black and brown peoples for centuries in policies and all systems has been, please look into learning more about it. From the earliest days that I can remember in academia to grad school, I was always the only black student with a disability in my classes. At the same time, I'm so thankful for my learning opportunities it did teach me to be aware of exceptionalism, the current segregation that still exists, and why it's essential to bridge gaps. Salute to all the speakers and continue to be change-makers. ♡ to NYC

I was raised in New York but not the city. I couldn't imagine living in the city I know they have had great times but when I go to visit I get taken a back because it's so big and where I went there wasn't enough grass .

The title is self explanatory to me. To show the world what it's like to grow up Black in whatever particular city they are focusing on at the moment. First New Orleans, this time New York.

@pat p they do matter. Nobody thinks they dont. Just because a white cop kills a black person deservingly does not mean the entire country needs to take a knee and feel guilt.
