I started working at a custom cabibet shop right out of high school and worked there for 8 years. There was only 5 people that worked there so i learned everything from cutting them out to building them to finishing and installing. Now im a finish carpenter and everything i learned doing cabinets tranfered over and really made a better woodworker as a whole.
@timf59633 ай бұрын
That's really cool. I didn't have much insight on the trades back in high school. Wish I had pursued carpentry!
@apmadeithappen215 күн бұрын
@timf5963 I also took every wood shop class possible starting in middle school. Then in high school I was building big furniture projects each year and taking them home so I was pretty comfortable in a wood shop. Not to mention on both my mom and dad's side of the family had cabinet and furniture makers all the way back to ww2 and my grandpa had a big wood shop in his basement. There's just something about woodworking that I was always attracted to even as a kid and really couldn't see myself doing anything other than some form or it.

I’m a fan of this format. Always great to see your work. Congratulations on the continued growth of your company, it’s been fun learning alongside you with your videos. I have a custom cabinet shop in Argyle. If you are ever in the area, and would like to stop by to see another shop operation, we’d be glad to have you.

Learning kitchen design and how to properly install a kitchen is a great asset to have. I understand custom cabinetry is expensive but danm it feels good to build and install cabinets that fit the space accordingly instead of box cabinets with filler strips everywhere!

Those gutter dams at the valleys are causing some serious issues. I have done Standing seam roofing over the last 20 years and have gone back and forth on installing these. The reason is to keep the rapid flowing valley runoff from going over the front of the gutter but at the same time they are daming up the debris, which in turn is forcing water behind the gutter. Even with a properly flashed gutter this can still be the case being as gutters are flashed in and not waterproofed to handle pooling water. A better solution is to lay strips of that heavy gutter screen, like EZ Lock, up the valley to slow the runoff down before it reaches the gutter. Hope this helps

7:33 that gutter downspout may be too small for Texas downpours. Specially if it’s the only downspout. Had a similar situation at a home and once we put a larger diameter downspout , the overflow of water stopped.

They need to get a downspout calculator for rainfall in that area. It’s probably not a large enough downspout for a valley, it will also tell the appropriate spacing of downspouts to allow the water out. I used to work for a metal building manufacturer and that thing looks pretty tiny.

The gutter will overflow if the downspouts aren’t large enough or spaced close enough. It is collecting there because the water escapes there. More downspouts or larger downspouts are not aesthetically pleasing for a home like that. I get it.
