beautiful video and beautiful shell finds. I really liked the first good Lettered Olive you found. The pattern on it seemed different from most olives, very pretty. Thank you for sharing with us. 😃😃😃 Your videos always make me smile.

Thank you Brian for picking such beautiful beaches to shell. Absolutely love your videos. You picked the right colored shirt for the first part of this video. When my sister and I got to go to the beach and we see the birds fly by we would call UT a fly by. Good memories. Thank you again Brian. I really needed this.

All 3 of those beaches are hit and miss propositions. You are either really really lucky or good editing over several trips. Either way thanks for another great video

Hi friend! Yes, the Hutchinson Island portion was filmed in April of this year. The Blowing Rocks, and Hobe Sound segments were filmed last August. The B-roll at the beginning is an amalgamation of other shelling trips throughout SE Florida over the past few years. Shelling here is quite hit or miss from my experience, and I would say that I definitely was a little luckier at Hutchinson Island. Interestingly enough, I have another Hutchinson Island episode where I found even more variety - I'll release that sometime in the near future. Thanks as always for watching! 💙

Went to blowing rocks yesterday and there were No Shells whatsoever. There was a huge shelf of sand and the water was crazy even at low tide. Walked and walked the beach and found nothing. The rock formations are covered by sand so not sure when you filmed this. I had good luck at Juno fortunately so my east coast tromp was not a total bust! The beach is always changing!

Hi friend! The Blowing Rocks portion of this episode was filmed in August of last year. This spot can often be quite hit or miss, but I know some folks who go here frequently and find really great treasures! Good shelling can never be guaranteed, but I think the best time to go would be low tide, and earlier in the day before the crowd arrives. Thanks so much for watching!

Love zooming in and pausing on my ipad to linger over these beauties… Especially loved the Turkey Wing and the Sundial among many others, but can you tell me the name of the shell that was quite small with wide and deep ridges at 13:09..It almost looked like a shard of a bigger shell…So mysterious looking…I was fascinated by it.? Hi friend, interesting observation! I normally use a dedicated studio mic to record intros when I feature them in my content. I was staying at my family's in Maine this week and did not have access to my usual studio mic so I had to improvise and use a different microphone - definitely not AI, lol. Thank you so much for watching!

Thank you for all the shelling experiences. I am usually in the Stuart area in February and have a tough time finding shells. May I ask when this video was filmed?

Thank you for sharing! Enjoy your videos. This maybe off topic but when i bleach my shells they seem to fell chalky when i rinse them, any ideas?
@drdrew323 күн бұрын
Chalky shells have a calcium deposits that are easily removed with a quick muriatic acid dip. Save the chlorine for removing barnacles and green algae
@solaceinshelling655211 күн бұрын
I just released an episode on Maine shelling where I discuss cleaning shells with bleach! Bleach is great at removing "gunk" - sometimes after a bleach soak, you'll have to use a small tool to remove any lingering gunk, but the bleach helps to dissolve, and loosen everything up. Thanks for watching!

Are there any other kinds of crown conchs? These look different from the other places in Florida.
@drdrew323 күн бұрын
These are heavily surf worn and missing their thorny knuckles. They mostly originate in the mud flats of the Indian River Lagoon. By the time they make it to the beach they’ve lost their colors and become smooth
@brendagroff847823 күн бұрын
@@drdrew3The colors look different. I actually like them more.
@solaceinshelling655211 күн бұрын
@drdrew3 answered this question nicely here 💛 There are different species of Crown Conch, but only one primary species is present in Florida, the Florida Crown Conch, also know as the King's Crown Conch. I think there may also be sub-species present, particularly in the Keys Reef Tract, but I am not as versed in identifying these nuanced differences. My friend, Dr. Ed Petuch has written some great, and informative literature on detailed variations of mollusc species found in Florida including the Crown Conch. One such piece of literature that I have in my collection can be found here: browardshellclub.org/2012/03/03/petuch-sargent-publish-rare-and-unusual-shells-of-south-florida/ Thanks so much for watching!
