Truck driver tip when there’s multiple left turn lanes use the outside (right) lane.

Old guy trucker logic, if you drive in the right lane, it eliminates the blind spot and you can drive a lot more at ease🙂

just having completed a longer trip in our Odyssey 31F. driving just over 70 mph it does get loud. Tow/haul mode is a must in the mountains or to better merge as it holds the gear a little longer. Also the generator exhaust sticks out a couple of inches on the drivers side; I know cause I hit a traffic cone in a construction zone. 😬 edit: if a trucker lets you into the lane. I usually give them a couple of flashes of the hazard lights as a thank you.

Can you share what was that camera system you had on this rig? Loved when it showed side camera on turn signal

What is the belt on the passenger's hand bar? It looks like the passenger has very little leg room.

Hello. I really enjoyed the information and the ride. I'm really thinking about doing this and full-time. How much is insurance on one of these? Is there any more pertinent information that I should know before I jump into this?

Great topic for a video and very helpful ! You mentioned that there’s not a whole lot of clearance, have you ever had any kind of issues with hydraulic jacks striking anything ? I’ve seen some rigs that have those castor type wheels mounted under the rear bumper area , I assume to help with dragging the rear ? 🤷🏻‍♂️ any thoughts on those . I like the new camera setup, I feel like I’m on board lol 😎👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸 P.S does the rig have a spare tire ?
@CozyLivingMachine

I hoped it would be! We looked and just couldn’t find anything close to a video like this while waiting for our rig! And we do strike the jacks on some speed bumps unless we’re going VERY slow over them, 2 mph is too much lol not all, but some lots are a little extra with their bumps! And that’s interesting! I hadn’t seen that, but I suppose it wouldn’t necessarily hurt, as long as they were mounted on the frame and it could take the weight of the rig being rested there… when we scrape, we tend to be turning at the bottom of a hill and I don’t think wheels would do us much good! And thanks!! I should have added a warning for viewers sensitive to motion, but I’m sure it’ll help at least one person!! And no spare tire, another thing I didn’t know for certain before we got this rig!

@@CozyLivingMachine I had a couple more thoughts as I finished the video lol I’ve heard some resort to a different storage method for the sewer hose because of possible rust concerns for the bumper 🤷🏻‍♂️ any issue or concern for that ? Also I noticed your water hose is blue and I’ve seen white too. Is the distinction one is for fresh water and the other for sewer ? I noticed you said you prefer to operate your jacks manually, was wondering why ? I was going to get those Snappads for the Jack feet, have you seen those and any thoughts ?
@CozyLivingMachine
@CozyLivingMachine Жыл бұрын
@@georges4562 it was a long one, I’m amazed you got all the way through!! 😂 and you know, I saw surface rust inside immediately upon buying it. I was concerned and considered spraying inside and letting it dry, but I figured that worst case I’ll just grab a new bumper that is aluminum and paint it black. It’s far too convenient to have it in the bumper. 😬 and no distinction, as long as they’re food safe! This is the hose we got from Gabe when we picked up our motorhome and every other one we’ve had was white as well! I have found that with certain areas where we’ve been unlevel, the jacks will not do their job and keep trying to extend much farther past where they can. It also zeros out when we’re still sloping down in the front, so I bring it up higher than I’m “supposed to” in the front and that works best for us. As for the jack snap pads, we’ve thought about it but it would lower our overall clearance and there’s no need for how we use it on asphalt or gravel. Maybe in mud it may make a difference, but I suspect we’d be better off with a bit of wood under them instead.

Do you generally stay to the left lane when traveling local roads? Is this to avoid cars coming out of parking lots and streets in front of you? Or do you stay in right lane to avoid cars behind you getting frustrated because they “think” left lane is quick lane?
@CozyLivingMachine
@CozyLivingMachine Жыл бұрын
That's a great question, and it's entirely dependent, but GENERALLY I stay to the right as a rule of thumb. Some roads I've found that there are unpredictable patterns of traffic, folks pulling out in front because we look large and slow, or there's an on-ramp coming up that vehicles tend to get backed up at, I will move over to avoid those areas and lanes of traffic. We require more stopping distance, so I err on the side of caution in this way! On seven-lane roads, such as highway 99 in Washington, I tend to take the middle of the three in the same direction, just because it prevents me from having to brake and accelerate as frequently. I suppose I'm less concerned about people passing on the right when the speeds are 45 or under, though when on the freeways I'll stick to the right-most lane unless there are certain exceptions. This is an interesting question, I've never given this much thought so thanks for asking!

Lacklustre on the hills? Just use more throttle, the more I drive this rig the more used to it I am getting. Just use more throttle, the engine has its HP and torque at higher revs like the 3200 to 4000. I was scared I was pushing the engine too hard at first but it loves that higher range. Now the terrible turning radius is to be expected from such a long wheelbase, comparing it to a Dodge Ram pickup isn’t very fair, much shorter wheelbase. I do notice the bad driers more, they want to get ahead of me so badly that they will scoot in front of me way too fast and then slam on their brakes as they are about to hit the car ahead of them, while simultaneously cutting me off so I need to slam on my brakes… I was also almost rear ended by a BMW SUV yesterday. I’m not too surprised as the more expensive the car the more dangerous of a driver is usually behind the wheel.

Firstly a 450 chassis cab is a fair motor its the idiots who put that extra large body on it that has killed it, that extra long rear overhang with no upwards slope caster wheels wont realy help you , better a little gravel rash on the rear end than rear frame damage of the caster wheels pushing up vertical, landing legs hitting the road again bad design. Strong advice dont go out in strong crosswinds I have seen overbody ed flip in the wind with ease, Overall sorry friend but that was a bad buy .

@mishafrog8786
@mishafrog8786 Жыл бұрын
@@wattsupwiththat1463 My point was the overbody size , the bulk over the cab then my main point that overhang after the rear axle , in a side wind its going to be a beast to say the least.
