It's nearly six years since I walked the Camino Frances and I still love watching videos to relive my great experience. This video captures the different emotions I felt, wanting to get to Santiago but being in the rhythm of the Camino that I didn't want it to stop. I'm now planning a Camino in the UK to get some stamps before walking on the short Camino Ingles. Thanks for evoking my good memories.

I walked the camino in 2019 and had blister issues in the first week. The most useful clue I was given by experienced walkers was to coat my toes with compeed blister prevention grease at the start of each day. Once i started doing that i never had any more blisters. Some people just use vaseline and say it’s just as good. But the worst thing is to push on without taking precautions. I saw some awful feet and some people were having to cancel their trip and take trains and buses home.

Theres a product called Body Glide that is great for preventing blisters and rubbing. Its what I used on the camino and it was great. I am struggling with my health and was curious how did u go from being super sick in Mexico to walk the Camino. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
@vanhallaadventures
@vanhallaadventures Жыл бұрын
In full transparency, I was still a bit sick when I began. My body did not fully recover BUT it was well enough to walk. I am just now healing my gut (SIBO from the Salmonella) and have many months of gut troubles and nervous system issues since Mexico. I am trained in cellular regeneration detoxification, nutrition, and herbalism so I had decent amount of tools to work with from my schooling. I would say a good place for anyone to start with in regards to health is to ask yourself first what route you want to take. I am personally a natural health advocate that also supports western medicine when it is necessary. If you enjoy natural healing (nutrition, herbs, etc) then I would find a Naturopath who is schooled in both areas and make sure to ask for testimonials and results of past clients with similar concerns as you. I always ask for a professional's client's testimonials to ensure they are a good fit as schooling doesn't matter if results are not good. Nutrition to me is always the fore-front of any health plan though sometimes tests may be needed if there are infections, etc. I trust this helps a bit :) Everyone is so different so each route to wellbeing is unique.

I was actually one of the youngest at the beginning of the walk in France (I am 37) and found that most people walking were in there 50's - 60's. One man I walked with was 82! I think it really comes down to training (I actually disagree somewhat that the camino will train you that people talk about) and desire to do it. If you want to do it - I fully believe you can Amelia! I will be putting out a How to Train for the Camino video after the actual vlog series is complete (post-santiago). I think that will help you :)

Not being the brightest of people I once walked 52 miles in a single 24 hour period.....because I'm stupid. I had no blister saga. The soles of my feet ached like hell, though. And the trick to shying away from blisters? Vaseline. At the end of every evening massage your feet - especially all around your toes - with Vaseline. HAS to be done every day you intend to walk.
