Not all of them have filotimo Helen. Perhaps you find the Greeks kinder, because you are a foreigner and in most cases they treat foreigners better than their compatriots. But if someone wants to to find out if a people is trully kind and friendly, they should try to associate and connect to the people of that nation. Just a ''hi, how are you'' does not show much.

We also enjoyed our two-week slow travel in Naxos after a hectic seven-day cruise around the Greek islands (check out Celestyal Cruises). If you enjoy wild beaches search for Amitis Bay north of Chora. You'll probably see the photos that I took of the Blue Ocean Tropical Bar which just opened this past June. It's probably closed now but next spring you can meet John and Shirley who built the bar and who are from the Netherlands.

I am glad you liked Naxos.. I wish my experience was as positive as yous but unfortunately it wasn't. i was there in August for 4 days. my second visit after 5 years. Basically the island had no significant changes over the years it just got more expensive.and the food quality got from really good to.. ok? The memories i will keep from my visit are that we got sick from bad food and got scammed to pay double the agreed rental for the car we rented. But as we say in Greece: Παμε για άλλα. PS: Haloumi cheese is from Cyprus. Traditional saganaki is made with kefalotyri cheese. The Naxian cheese that comes close to that in taste is Arseniko. However saganaki basically refers to the method of preparation (fried in a pan) which means that you can make saganaki wiht almost any (hard) cheese. Cheers and enjoy your trip!!!!!
