Thanks for this! I had an '00 Si I got to keep for about eight months before it was stolen, found two weeks later "surgically stripped for parts." There was actually a lot not to like about the Si: no ABS and rear brakes that locked too easily, it desperately needed a sixth gear (note it revving near 4500 rpm at 80 mph), gas mileage was never close to the EPA rating, the stereo was so weak you had to crank it to distortion levels just to hear it, and mine was a constant rattletrap (dash, sunroof, rear interior panels, etc.) from day one, surprising for a Honda. But man, every run to the redline was driving nirvana. Not fast by today's standards, but so great to ring out. Even bone stock, it sounded amazing. Plus it had sophisticated front and rear double-wishbone suspension and that great old-school Honda steering and transmission feel. I'd forgotten what it was like--this vid brings back great memories.

@@supercrazyba I’ve ran into that as well. You end up going into 5th at like 40mph if you’re cruising, but it gets loud after 3,500 RPM on the highway. I have an EG Si and the driving dynamics are very similar, think slightly taller gearing and slightly more torque. Found a black '00 at a dealership with a little under 100k miles on it for $8500 and was super stoked to take it home. I was in love with it at first, but after about a month, the engine blew thanks to a faulty timing belt tensioner and I had to put it into storage for a while till I could afford a replacement. After I had it back on the road, basically everything that could go wrong with it did. The replacement engine never seemed to run right, and everything started breaking on it. I got fed up with it after less than 2 years and sold it off as a mechanic's special for $1200. I've never had a car give me more issues than that Civic. I take very good care of my vehicles too, but it seemed like anytime I got something fixed, 3 more things on it broke.

HÖR coilovers and all Neuspeed bars/suspension on 16” OZ 5 spokes. It was by far the quickest on the streets and at Pueblo Motorsports park. Ran high 13’s after the Quaife LSD and mid 13’s with the ZEX 50 shot. That was WITH 2 12’s in the trunk and full interior. Unfortunately I blew it up and my dad put a 2.0 16v and gave it to my brother as his first car. It had way too much power to weight ratio and he ran it into a curb shortly after getting his license. It sat at my folks house for years before I sold it for WAY too cheap. I had just signed my first professional hockey contract out of high school and ended up in 1992 LS-S integra with a JDM B20z swap. FBO and tuned…no VTEC but the torque made all the difference. Loved that car and it took me all over North America while I played in the minors with ZERO issues. Unfortunately it was stolen shortly after I moved to play for the “solar bears”…found in the desert completely stripped and wrecked. Insurance paid well and I rebuilt it. Worst part of it all was losing my collection of 400 CD’s. I’ll never emotionally recover from that.

I own a Si myself, the interior needs work and generally, it wasn't as perfectly preserved when I bought it last year but I'm working on it. But seeing this in prime condition is just mindblowing, It's so simple but it's so good, such a fun little car to drive! I've been meaning to sell it to buy something else, but after watching this I'm doubting that decision. Cool video and nice commentary~

This is why people love 90's and early 2000's Japanese cars. They were practical, light weight and were fun to drive. They came with everything you needed and nothing you didnt.

This car gives me so much childhood memories and nostalgia, man. I was literally a kid that year seeing these brand new. You still see these on the streets from time to time, but as time goes on they are becoming more rare to find and keep slowly. Anyways, great job featuring this car, man!

Ah the car I miss the most. Parents bought one for me while I was in college. Exactly in the spec you have. I put very tasteful mods including a Mugen twin loop exhaust and 16 inch bronze volk TE37 along with suspension and shifter upgrades. Eventually traded it in for a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI which was also an amazing car. Of the two I would take the civic. Just simple fun pleasure that is cheap to maintain. I still have dreams about that car.

That is good car but don't forget that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with 𝗡𝗢𝗦 and a Motec system exhaust.

When RCR's host got "an car" and searched for "the blandest thing he could find" I originally thought it was stupid but thinking back on it, there's something amazing and visceral about driving a car that just does nothing for you. No traction control, ABS, no auto brakes. No Bluetooth. Just you, and your focus on what you're doing and your thoughts. We all need more of it in an the era of overstimulation. As a bonus, not having these driver assists made me a much better driver. I knew how to manager my car in the mud or snow with zero assistance. I did get stuck a time or two but then I knew exactly the limit my car had going forward. For me it was a base model 07 Ford Fusion. It was a sporty(ish) car, a mediocre engine, and a radio. And god dammit I took some corners on remote sections of I-80 at nearly 100 miles an hour and felt fine doing it because there was so much feedback coming through the car I knew exactly what I wanted the car to do and what the car was doing.
