What it’s Like To Ski For the First Time

The moment I announced I went skiing for the first time, my DMs were blowing up "Did you vlog it?" Well you guys, I did it! This was the hardest but most fun thing I've done in a while haha!
A couple of weeks ago, our friend invited us to go skiing. I was hesitant at first since it was going to be skiing for the first time, but we took a chance and said yes! I felt like I was living in a snowglobe all weekend. Definitely something to add to your bucketlist!

As somene who has been skiing since i was 5, my tips are wear warm clothes, have something to cover your lower half of the face to avoid frostbite, do not go too fast because if you do you will loose control of the skiis (use the pizza technique to go slow) and most importantly as my mom said when teaching me "TURN!" (i had trouble turning and slowing down so she would skii behind me and yell that as we were going down the slopes😂)

I am from Norway and i'm used to being in the snow a lot. My advice is to not layer a bunch of synthetic fabrics. This will cool you down once you get worm and sweaty. When we go out in the snow we wear wool tights, sweaters and socks (just one pair), with fleece on top if it's really cold. That is usually all you need to stay worm even if you sweat.

Im a ski racer and you were doing a really great job for your first time! The reason why you fell was because you were in the back of the boot or in other words leaning backwards so next time just try leaning forwards and when making a turn put the pressure on the ski that’s on the outside for example if you’re turning left put your pressure on your right ski! Good job!!

The key is confidence, you have to think you can do it before you do it. First start off with pizza and french fries to go and stop, but the sooner you learn how to hockey stop, the better, cause then you can parallel turn off of that, and from that you can finally learn to carve

I absolutely love skiing! Ive been skiing since i was 5 in colorado!Make sure to stay warm next time! Yes there is such thing as layering too much and it makes you colder! Remeber french fried too! The altitude can also take a toll on you! Skiing is so fun tho and you did a good job!

My first time skiing was like 2 or 3 years ago. I'd really love to go again but i havent yet. It was so fun to me and we stayed at my grandmas house after and went in her hot tub and it felt so relaxing afterwards

I went on a trip with a friend when I was 16, I had so much fun the first day at the bottom on the bunny slopes. Day two we went way up and had to ski down the entire mountain and it was low visibility so much colder and so scary! Now at almost 30 I don't think I will ever ski again lol

You both did amazing! This brings back memories as a kid going skiing. My dad would have us jump around the house in a ski position (legs shoulder width apart and partially bent). Yes walking in ski boats is tiring. I don't recommend going when is snowing and really windy. No fun being cold and possibly having to go down an icy part if it is at the beginning of the ski run. The conditions you had looked very enjoy day for a day on the mountain.

weird thing that works for me if I have hiccups is this: you take water in your mouth, then spin 3 to 4 times with the water still in the mouth and after you're finished spinning you swallow the water. it's weird but for me it works almost every time :)

I can’t ski because I’m in the wheelchair. But I was in Utah before for Sundance Film Festival in Park City, and watching people ski.

for someone who's been skiing since I was 3 or 4, this seems so weird... even though, I stopped skiing at like 8 and had to relearn 10 years later, it all came back pretty quickly. i think in the beginning just go as slow as possible, you'll become faster with practice... but at some point I was just sent down black slopes and I kinda thik thats why I learned so fast.

I’ve been skiing since I was a kid. I took downhill skiing lesson for many years -went through the levels through to blue and black diamond level trails. I’m a solid skier! ⛷️ I can now do most all blue trails and some black diamond trials ( depending on the difficulty). The ‘pizza’ in skiing is also referred to as ‘snowplowing’’ ( helps you not pick up too much speed - I’ll do that when I need to). I’d ’snowplow’ a lot, especially if you are first beginning - that way you are in better control. From ‘snowplows’, you can easily start making gentle ‘turns’ ( ski turns). You can also try doing what’s called a ‘hockey stop’ to stop as well ( though it’s a little harder). My Mom’s side of the family are cross country skiers ( Nordic skiing) so I’ll go on cross country skiing trips with them when I can.

If someone tells you to lean forward, think leaning forward like Michael Jackson did. Ski boots are strong! You’ll want to lean forward in the boots. I used to think it meant just leaning the top half of my body forward and I ended up doing shrimp posture 😭
