I'm just explaining my particular role on this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live. Nothing too juicy, sorry juicemongers.

The fact teachers use Doppelt Gemoppelt is kinda hilarious to me. I wish when I was in college a professor pointed to my paper and said "redundant schmesmudant" in a dead serious tone.

It’s kinda like working in logistics. They make sure the right things get to the right people and they never get noticed unless something isn’t where it should be. So basically they only get acknowledge when something goes wrong lol.

The most common context of "doppelt gemoppelt" usage is "doppelt gemoppelt hält besser" which translates to "if you do it twice, it holds stronger/sticks better" meaning something like redundancy reinforces stuff/makes sure it works etc.

That Geoff Keighley entrance announcement had great energy, don’t change it. We may not hear the crowd as much on the broadcast but the lights, camera work, and Geoff’s own first words were all very high energy, so it fit in very well and I never even noticed it was you.

Your ONL bits are better than most of the trailers, but I’m also a sucker for your type of humour (see 12:56) I also find it pretty great that a bunch of people that might not have ever seen any of your work get to. The oe replacement is usually used in things like crosswords or email addresses, where an Umlaut wouldn't work, but I guess it's also useful in the name of something very international, where you don't want to confuse people by making them type a letter that doesn't exist in their alphabet.

Its always interesting how these big productions desperately need people for the "small stuff" to function. I worked a convention once and my job was just to get projectors and screens to rooms that needed it for their breakout sessions. And then like you, "anything unexpected" which ended up ranging from "go pick this guy up from the airport" or "the clicker to advance the slides isn't working so you sit at the cpu and do it manually," to "our camera guy just got sick so you film it for this session" Twas an interesting experience lol.
