I’ve been on every tier status from Marriott. In reality for the everyday business traveler the difference between titanium and ambassador is only felt when you are staying at the luxury and premium properties. Only on one occasion was I denied an upgrade while on numerous occasions I was granted some of the best rooms on the property. However, if you’re staying at the more business oriented properties don’t expect a lot of attention or effortless upgrades. Titanium seems to be the sweet spot and best bang for your buck.

I'm $69.00 away from ambassador which will post from my previous stay on Monday!! Honestly, there isn't that much difference between Titanium & Ambassador!! But, I can't wait to see how we're treated when we reserve!! I'll be ambassador at least for 2yrs!!

James - my dad is titanium for life and I definitely think the perks he gets are similar to the ambassador status without having to spend that insane amount of money each year! Typically can get great upgrades, especially internationally like you said. One downside to titanium is they no longer have a dedicated Marriott phone line. Sometimes have to wait 30+ min to talk to a representative.

I’ve been Ambassador for 4 years. Usually get the upgrades for business travel. We stayed in an enormous suite in Venice Italy at Hotel Danieli in June 2019. Used suite night rewards and had $3500 night suite for 5 nights…..FREE. amazing bucket list trip. I have 900,000 points with 15 suite nights and looking at trips right now! 😄

We are a shake-of-a-lamb's-tail from Life Platinum. We've always been well taken care of. Especially at The Grande Chateau in Vegas! That's my favorite place to stay when we go (usually at least once a year). And it's nice to be able to treat friends with suite upgrades for a night out in our home city. My husband travels the world & often gets the executive reception, especially in Asia.

It’s the walking around a property and people knowing who you are by name. The upgrades, the care that if you have a single complaint it’s taken seriously. One of my fav properties is the Dubai Marina. Once they were booked to capacity and I got a smokers room and I wasn’t happy. Next time I went to the property I was walked to my room with a bottle of wine ; meat and cheese platter, hand written note and the lady sat there and made sure I was happy with the room. I booked my sis her honey honeymoon with points and my status followed her. She checked in, got a butler and an upgrade and was escorted to her room. These are the things about status that can’t be quantified in the list of elite benefits.

I miss my top status with Hyatt, they were class. Now the Amex Hilton Aspire can get you Diamond, many status matches, and even buy ups to Intercontinental Royal Ambassador. Marriott is the most difficult.

Back in the hood old days I had ambassador for 4 years on the run. Back when your calls were answered by a team of about 10 people. They would straight up bump people for you in the busiest places and give you low rates and presidential suite upgrades. Ahh to be young single and high status again haha. Oh well, days away from titanium for life.

Dude, had no idea your an Ambassador too. I've had it for 3 years now. I always get the upgrade, but rarely a cool welcome gift. A bottle of wine at check-in was only cool one. Other than that, they let me raid their pantry food store for whatever I want to take. Anyways, would be cool to hear more Ambassador stories or trips.

Congrats Jamey! I believe Titanium is good place to be (I was for 5 years) and now spent a little extra to get Ambassadorship and it doesn't seem to be doing too well, at least in Japan,

Been a Platinum for the past 5-6 years. With all what is happening with devaluations is hard to justify loyalty to a chain…specially for someone that pay for most of his stays like I think you do (don’t remember a review where you said you booked with points). The best option (if financially doable) probably is booking Virtuoso or FHR to get the perks wherever you want to stay. So…I will be waiting for you upcoming Four Seasons reviews 😉

Nice! Just hit diamond with Hilton and working on grinding through the many levels with Marriott. Sounds like the Marriott CEO has been making some pretty idiotic statements lately about where they're trying to take the brand (no housekeeping, "workers make too much money", guests should be tipping more, etc) and the rest of the industry is watching their lead. Not sure if I should keep working Marriott or just focus on Hilton and call it a day...

There are no exclusive cities in Mexico. Actually there are no exclusive cities in the world. Lol. Exclusive means only certain people can enter, while others are “excluded”. I guess North Korea has exclusive cities, but Mexico certainly does not.
