Very nice words. I’ve been a vegetarian since I was 22 give or take and I’ve never regretted it. I adore animals and the thought of eating them and what they are forced to go through before they’re eaten is horrible. Therefore, I could never bring myself to eat animals again. I also don’t think putting something in your body that has undergone that much stress and pain can be good for you. I know everyone is different so I’m not preaching, I’m just giving my opinion.
@diannabowen38683 жыл бұрын
I completely agree! I don't eat animals either...I don't even kill spiders or flies...rather, I capture them and put them outside. I believe that every animal has a right to life!

Well said. I love that you are not preaching, your opinion is valid and I total agree with your points, especially the point of eating an animal that has undergone such stress, trauma and even Viloence cannot be good for you. It just feels so wrong.

I’m a vegetarian bc my dad was a freak and literally traumatized me with meat (long dumb story) but as a kid I often hated not being able to eat meat. I grew up in the south and I was always hungry during school. (free lunch program and all. Except they didn’t have much for vegetarians.) I learned to live off side dishes at potlucks and pig pickens. I was so happy when my mom went pagan bc I soon discovered all the pagan potlucks were filled with veg food. But now I’m so glad I don’t have to fight with meat cravings bc I don’t want to eat animals. Just trying to cut dairy out has been hard enough. I have a lot of respect for ppl who grew up eating and living the taste of meat and who gave it up!
@marley76593 жыл бұрын
I hope you understand that dairy farms and egg farms still kill animals. Going vegetarian these days isn't enough to ensure animals aren't suffering under factory farming or even small local farms. They still have standard practices to kill animals even though the main product they sell is a by-product. I suggest you look into the egg and dairy industry. Look at the standard practice. I suggest you avoid looking at indian dairy farms. It isn't the standard or norm globally. Going vegan is the only way to ensure the least amount of harm possible. Much love. Take care. I wish you and all the animals the best.

He Lee, Greetings from an experienced pot-bellied pig owner. I learned the hard way the more grain you feed them, the more weight they gain. Start them on leafy vegetables, carrots, etc. Also, llamas are very social animals so Frankie will be anxious until he gets a buddy or two. Glad to see you expanding the herd!
@carolz50903 жыл бұрын
I’m with ya Lee. I became a Vegetarian 30+ years ago because I couldn’t eat animals anymore, but that was a personal choice. You can’t be holier than thou, that’s obnoxious, people have to determine what they eat for themselves. There are vitamins that are more difficult to get in a plant based diet, I learned the hard way last year to be more mindful of that and include more vitamin supplements.

Thank you for your honest reflections. I, too, live with that regret. Now, as an academic, I commit to educating on the topic of vegan nutrition being optimal for human health. Coincidentally, a recent twin study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, showed the twins who had the vegan diet had superior health outcomes to the twin who had the typical omnivorous diet (animals and plants)., within only two months. This is one of many studies over 70 years that supports humans are actually ‘vegan-by-design’. Our food plate has been directed by the meat, dairy, egg industries rather than by the evidence, which makes heart disease, hypertension, stroke, some cancers, diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer’s our leading killers. Not only can we improve our personal health and longevity with whole-food, low-fat healthy vegan nutrition but also demonstrate compassion to other sentient beings unable to fend for themselves. Check out advocates Earthling Ed and Dr. Melanie Joy who are both doing exceptional work.

When I was a kid in Florida, my Grandpa raised pigs in an orange grove. He got them day old ice cream, cottage cheese, and yogurt from a local dairy and they ate oranges too. They loved it. Sadly they were bred for meat and we took baby piglets home to watch and take care of when the sows couldn't. I totally understand how they become pets. I completely understand that now as an adult even more. I don't think I could ever raise ANY animal for consumption. . That's just me. Blessings.

We have 4 rescue poybelly piggies here on our farm as part of our Rescue/farm fam.. my first (Gracie Lou Pig Pig) came before the rescue and is my heart. My daughter pulled her from a horrible back yard breeder at 3 months for me, and she was raised in our home, with our dogs, also rescues, but we only had 5 dogs at the time lol. We have two siblings from another awful backyard breeder that survived through just awful abuse, and physical conditions, and our last was literally dumped at TSC when she likely didn’t stay “mini” in. Size. They are truly wonderful, beautiful intelligent creatures, that are taken for granted, misrepresented in the pet trade, being over bred, and dumped far to much these days as well. Thank you so much for giving an amazing home to these sweet babies, and their awesome LGL and for also bringing awareness to the issues potbelly piggies are struggling with in today’s pet trade.❤️

He loved going out back to play and loved humping his basket ball as it rolled all around the yard! lol He was super sweet and slept on my bed with me every night. As he got too big for our house a friend of ours with a farm really wanted him. It was the perfect situation. He loved her. And she gave him a wonderful place to live and tons of love. We actually kept her for our entire life with the pigs. We learned so much and she was part of the family. I completely understand and appreciate your perspective. With that said, Farm Credit of the Virginia’s article “Everything but the Oink” has a quick video categorizing what other important byproducts we may not know are gifts from pigs. I have a feeling that this may have already been mentioned previously. If so, please excuse my intrusion. I LOVE your videos and the work you do. I too had a very hard time with the same subject.
