Another thing to note is where you get your pup from initially! A good breeder will well-socialize your pups (introducing them to new environments, people, textures, sounds, animals, etc) and even begin potty and crate training when they are very young (even as young as two weeks old!) So when you get your pup home they are very well adapted and you just continue with positive reinforcement training. Obviously, no dog is perfect but doing quality research on the breeder and how they care for their pup before getting the pup will significantly affect how the next 6 months will go!

I was just about to say this exact thing, before I saw your comment. I get my dog in a few weeks and my breeder said that she will be very sociable because she has been socializing since she was born and she will be crate trained and potty training will have already started.

Wow, I must’ve gotten lucky with my maltipoo, she’s wasn’t clingy, she doesn’t like baths but she sat and let me do it, she doesn’t bark much. I took an 8 hr bus ride one time and nobody knew she was on the bus 🤣🤣 her first night home I put her in the crate and she cried so I moved her to her bed with one of my shirts and she was good every day since then. The breeder I got her from started the potty training process so she was good with using pee pads, but I also use to take her out every two hours. As she got older she could hold it through the night. I’m getting another in May and I’m so excited

Oh my I just purchased a Maltipoo just 2 1/2 weeks ago. When I went to get him I almost didn’t buy him. The lady was very rude. Than she had them outside with a camper that they would sleep in I guess. I went back and forth like this lady is a puppy mill. I decided to get him to save him from the situation. When he came home he slept in a small crate. The next day I gave him lots of love but he needed a bath I felt. So I gave him a bath and still gave him lots of loving. The first night he cried for 15 min. Than slept. The second day he cried 5 min. Than slept. The furniture crate I purchased came we set it up and no cries! I did put in his bed with him a soothing dog I purchased at Wal-mart. He was playing fetch with us in two or three days. He goes outside and I think since we had him he literally has had 4 accidents. I put him on our schedule. He has been to vet twice for a physical and now his shots. The vet said he is an amazing puppy. Very healthy. I told him he goes in his crate at 9:00 p.m. when I get up I can take my shower, etc. make me a cup of coffee and than come out in living room he lays in his crate looking at me like morning. We open the door say come let’s go outside for potty. He goes out pees I wait about 5 min. Than he finds his spot to do his duty. I tell him come let’s go inside. He comes right in. NOW we are playing the game of he goes grabs our socks or my husbands undies and brings them out to me. LOL I have a stack sitting next to me I need to put away. He loves to play. I take him with me to the stores he does great! Even sits or lays in the car seat. His car seat stroller comes tomorrow. Yea! But I must say he has adapted very well. Like all puppies they need training. He is learning stay, shake and I have him learning to take his paw and stroke my face. This is because I have atrial fib and I need him to help me with it. I want to train him further. But we are very happy with the puppy. So I think sometimes it’s how much loving and time are you willing to put into your pup. Some are just bad dogs we had a Jack Russell and NOWAY would I get another. He tore our new carpet, anything he could get a hold of. No matter how much time you spent with him. I just lost my yorkie and he was my service dog. So we purchased this multipolar and took him to vet ASAP to have him checked out and bring shots up to date. Just in case this lady slacked off. The Dr. Said he is very healthy and a great dog! He was amazed he was playing fetch in two days that we had him. When he goes to Wal-mart he heard a dog barking I told him… no be calm he laid right back down! It takes patience and a lot of love for your little precious puppies. Don’t get discouraged. There are a lot of you tube videos to help and YES that doggie music really helps also!

I am in the process of adopting 2 Maltipoo that were born almost 2 weeks ago. I can’t wait to get them. I had a jackabee when who just passed after 14 years of having him. He had huge separation anxiety and was obsessed with me. I miss him so much! I had a mini schnauzer who passed two years before my Max. I am so grateful for your advice because I never had baby puppies. I am getting 2 babies at the same time. I should be getting them in 5 weeks. Oh boy I should brace myself.

Your dog is so adorable! One of my dogs would sit in front of the fridge, and scratch at it. I said to my dad what is with this dog. My dad said she knows I have ceasars wet treats in there. I said ya right. My dad said watch, and he opens up the fridge, and sure enough my dad had ceasars treats in there. I said well I be darned. I said I don't believe it talk about smart. We always had toy poodles. That dog is in the top three smartest dogs. I believe your dog is so smart because of the poodle in it.
