Awe I love how Tom is telling you you have out grown your space. He is just a gem of a man. Mel the universe was really in your corner when you moved to the warehouse and Tom was right there. Loved seeing your guys together! Have a blow out sale and liquidate before you move. Less to move and you can let go of the things that no longer meet your metrics.

I once got a negative feedback because I didn't leave air holes in a box, for a doll. The feedback said, "There were NO AIR HOLES!!! SHE COULD HAVE DIED!!!" Really? Ebay removed it right away, of course. People! 😑

As someone who does a lot with vintage papers, you do need to move because even if the water is not directly on the books the moisture will absorb into nearby books. When you’re around books everyday it’s easy to not smell the trapped moisture in the book pages, even when dried, but the new owner opening the book for the first time might and you don’t want dings on your feedback. It’s a sign Mel that you’re ready to grow grow grow. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And if you have extra space for now put in a little area rug and some thrifted chairs and make it like a mini library seating area with a cozy desk for you to do your own personal reading, journaling, planning, socializing etc. be sure to put in a little doggie bed too ❤. And having Tom to help is such a bonus! He’s a doll ♥️. So happy for you!

I actually love that idea. Yes I think the time has come that I need a little bit of a bigger space than what I have and I desperately need a prepping area.

I think I left a comment after viewing your warehouse for the first time when it was empty. I thought it was too small. Aside from having a larger prep area, you need more space between shelves. I am thrilled you're doing this Mel. Always, set yourself up for success!!! The other thing is, your going solo in your business is holding you back so much and it will always have a negative affect both on your business and your mind. Talk to Tom about it. With this new move, you will have ample space for another person. Every time you move to a bigger warehouse, hire an additional employee. I know you're very protective of your baby (the books in your warehouse), but you have to think like a business woman You have to learn to delegate work, to be truly successful. It will be okay, Mel, and you'll see a big difference both in your professional and personal life. Great vlog! I wish you could have a video schedule. You most likely could if you had an employee. Is this warehouse in the same lot? Love you, Mel. You're my favorite KZbinr, and I watch a lot of home decor, unboxing, DIY, beauty, poker, family, and more! Congratulations, you went from a tiny shed, to storage sheds, to a small warehouse, and now to a proper sized place to conduct your business. So well done, Mel. Enjoy this new leg of your journey. Every book you lift on this move should make you filled with joy. You've done it, Mel. You have created an empire. 😊

Awesome video, loved it ❤ Thom is a gem. The whole feedback system needs an overhaul. Yesterday I got a negative removed as buyer wasn't happy that a certain function of the calculator didnt work - it was clearly mentioned in the description. Last week it was a neutral for 'not what I expected'. Uhm, ok? Our photos etc are always pretty good at painting an overall picture. Contacted her to see if there was anything we could have done better? Her response 'no the book is great and I will still use it, no complaints with service either'. Then what the heck!! So incredibly frustrating 🤬

Might be worth your time to message the buyer and thank her for being a loyal customer and also mention “by the way” when someone gives me a neutral rating/review it affects my sales like a negative one. And maybe send her a coupon too? 🤔 I don’t think people know and eBay harasses people to leave feedback and they just want to get it done.

I have not finished the video, but as business owner to business owner, you should not think twice about moving to a bigger space. Efficiency is the key, look how many hours you have lost listing books that you had to discard and worrying about the leak. Hire a part time assistant, move on to bigger space, smooth the operations. Your business is now a priority. I watched all your videos when you were in the shed, please look back on how you became efficient moving here. If you can make 175 dollars profit on a bat book, you don't have worry about the monthly rent. You need someone who loves to organize and has a sense for detail so they can balance your skills.

Go for the bigger warehouse, Mel! You can do it! You will make more money to cover the cost of it. And it will give you room to get even more organized. You can have bigger photo station, office space, KZbin-studio or maybe rent out part of the space to Tom? (You might to the sorting job for Tom in your space for example?) Just a suggestion for you - could you rent the bigger warehouse earlier and do the move over longer time? And then you don’t have to do all of it in the winter? Yes, I know you will have to pay rent for both of them, but it will only be for 1-3 months. Just a thought… :) Great video as always ❤❤❤

Tom has kind eyes. He is right. Your work is paper. He is right about the splatter affecting an area. I think your move may be challenging, but I notice you mostly have plastic wrapped bundles on your shelves. They will be easier to move like that than individual books. Look at it that way. Ask Rom for one of his big crates you are sorting through in his warehouse. Load it up. Have his forklift move that crate, etc. Get your shelves down and over then up again. Start loading up your bundles. Tell your kids you will throw them a BBQ or something for helping. 😉 And he is right. If you get a good deal you have no sort room. Don’t think the new one is too large. Just set it up how you need with an easy set up for expansion. Can’t have water with books.

Stock in, stock to process, stock out. It’s the repetitive nature of reselling. For you it’s media, for me it’s plastic totes of tools, repair parts and whatever I happen to source. Every time I see that you’ve achieved a few new bulk buys and covered your work surfaces again, I have the same thought: rolling utility carts, or in your case, rolling book/library carts so you can sort on the carts and not your packing/shipping bench. Good to see you making videos again. 😉

I wish ebay would really adjust the feedback system. Its unbalanced and not good for sellers to deal with. I feel ya on that one. Though, Ebay does always protect me as a seller. I sell stamps on eBay. Feedback can make or break us but in and of itself has become meaningless. Seller can receive but not leave negative or neutral making it one sided. I've seen positive comments posted as neutral or negative and eBay won't change anything. Star system is even worse. There are no criteria and buyers don't understand the big difference between 4 and 5 stars. It's completely subjective and therefore worthless. I sell on another site, Stamps2go, that has no feedback at all. Buyers mark the transaction complete when they receive their order and all is well. It takes the place of a positive. If there is a problem with an order there is a complaint system to use. Seller info button has seller startup date, number of transactions completed since startup and number of unresolved complaints, if any, for the past 6 months which takes the place of a negative. It works just fine.

Yes it would be a lot different to the first move. And a good time to stocktake and cull some old inventory. There are pros.

I honestly think you have enough space in that warehouse. Up to you though. If you get a larger warehouse you’ll need staff and therefore any gains will be lost in extra rent and wages. Just an opinion. Good on you, love ur videos

I have one of those ring lights... the thing about it that annoys me when photographing books is if they're glossy they reflect that ring light back into the camera. But at least they take up less space than the box lights.

Yes sometimes. I just hold the light and rock it backwards until the glare is mostly gone.

I was starting to have a panic attack at the thought of moving all those books... aagh. But a damp warehouse is no good for books, thankfully you have Tom and the gang to help. Give yourself a little extra space between the shelving and it will make things easier for you. Good luck.

Yes. Thom’s been trying to convince me to hire someone for a while now and I think I may have to give into that also soon. It seems silly to keep trying to juggle it all by myself when I want to grow also.

16:30 Awesome! Sign language! I'm trying to learn sign language, but can only fingerspell right now, which would be help if I ever needed to communicate with the deaf. I've wanted to take some lessons, but figured that there would be nowhere to take sign language lessons in my small town in Alabama, then it hit me! I live in the same area where Helen Keller was born. The Alabama Institute of the Deaf and Blind is here, Helen Keller's birthplace, the Helen Keller Public Library. If there is nowhere to learn sign language here, then there's a huge problem! I've sold sign language books well. I've gotten them in the past hoping to learn something and I have, but it's easier on me to just watch KZbin videos. So glad you found those! Will be interested to see how quickly you sell them. The ones I have gotten have sold well.

Hey Mel , I agree with all these unnecessary neutral and negative feedbacks. They are definitely detrimental and unwarranted most of the time and feel we can't do anything about it and is very frustating. I'm glad you were able to get yours removed. Love your videos. Chris LI New York

Hi Mel. So sorry about all those leaks and trashed books. You really don't need that. Looks like you may be on move again in the near future. At least this move isn't long distance like before. You really don't want any more leaks destroying your stock.. Great video describing your daily trials.
