My late husband enjoyed living in London for over a year while he was there on a Fulbright Fellowship. He loved Hampstead Heath and spoke of it often. We never were able to work things out so that we could go there together (I've wanted to go forever) due to health crises. But my husband grew up in Brooklyn with a yard the size of a postage stamp (as he used to say) and where we live now, we have a giant yard. He loved working in the yard all spring, summer and fall, trimming the very same type of hedges that Mr. Bull trims here! I don't know if my husband ever made it to Wales while he was visiting England, but I'm certain he really would have enjoyed seeing this landscape and watching Mr. Bull's technique, lol! This is a stunningly beautiful place and such a joyous view -- especially now that our president has become a war criminal!!! I apologize to the Kurdish people for his existence and his actions. I weep for you. What was done was and is wrong and our military did not want to do it.

We would go and stay with them. The gardens were closed in the mornings, so we, with our cousins (of whom we were massively jealous) basically had the run of the gardens and deer park. Fantastic childhood memories of a fantastic place! Thank you for the trip down memory lane! Good to see it’s still in such dedicated hands. If you’ve never been, I can’t recommend it highly enough!

WOW !! And I thought our hedges were tall at 6 feet high by 4 feet deep surrounding two pieces of property. They were originally trimmed by my grandfather and then my mother with handheld clippers. When it was my turn to take over I bought electric clippers. How many electrical cords I cut in half over the last 15 years I’ve lost count. Now that my son has taken over trimming the hedges I bought him a gasoline powered hedge trimmer that cost a little more than $600. According to my son the gasoline powered ones are more powerful and more efficient. Plus no more cutting of the cord. Having these beautiful hedges makes me feel I live in my own private castle. 💖
