Hi everyone! I've been receiving a lot of questions about what career paths or jobs you can get with a computer engineering degree so I'd decided to go in depth on this topic by providing a handful of careers that you can apply to with a CompE degree.
The ones talked about in this video are only a small list of the different jobs you can get. If you'd like to know or learn about more and/or found this video helpful please let me know if the comment section below!

I commented in your other vid that I am having a hard time finding a job that won't just SUBstitue me as a CS or IT or EE since I am no match for them and companies will prioritze them. Also I don't want to neglect either one of soft and harware.... what I found is microprocessors, microcontollers, (IC or chips), VHDL, and embedded system. Currently restudying those cause damn the materials and professors in my sschool who taught that was impossible. You also mentioned cybersecurity with cpe in one of your vids and I was shookt because I wanted a career where I could love my major which is an altruistic( not really but haha close?) career such as cybersecurity ( started on digital forensics then cybersecurity then ethical hacking). Hope you mentioned cybersecurity too cause I can't imagine combining hardware with that? Thank you!!! also a female cpe here trying to love what her mama forced her to take lololol

If I major in CE, if I want to get a job in software, isn't it ambiguous because you're losing competitiveness to those who majored in CS, and also losing to those who majored in EE when you got a job in hardware? It's a dilemma..

Muhtasim Rahman I’m currently working as a “Software Engineer” and the majority/all of my work is done in the Linux environment. Mainly learning and debugging existing code as of right now (still new) and using Jenkins to test different parts of the program to make sure it’s working as expected (I.e unit testing)

Awesome! 🙌🏼 and it depends on who you have. For me I had professor Hayat and he was just all over the place (not a good professor) with the material. He made it much more difficult than it needed to be and our class got low test scores but he did curve them. The material itself was a little confusing but there is a lot of information on the internet to help you out if you don’t understand something.

@@TheSn12 I live in the other side of the world but the way you describe your signals and systems prof describes mine! He makes it much more difficult than it needed to be and everyone (even the smartest in the class) only got passing grades.

Got a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering cos i have got this obsession for computers since when i was kid, wanting to know what was really going on inside those chips and circuits. I wanted that mixture of both hardware and software..but currently working as a Software Engineer. Even though i love software i still don't feel satisfied because have neglected hardware. i would like to pursuit a Masters degree. Any suggestions on course of study
@TheSn12
@TheSn12 4 жыл бұрын
Well first of all, that’s great that you have a passion for it! I’m happy to hear that you found what you enjoy and have been able to make a career out of it! It’ll also make it that much easier to pursue a masters degree. Well, from the the university I went to, there was a list of topics that you could choose from to get a masters in. Some of them were more software oriented while others where more hardware oriented. I’d suggest talking to your academic advisor, let them know you’d like to pursue a masters in CompE with an emphasis on hardware, and see what courses/options they have. Some courses to look out for that involve more hardware are VHDL, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks, Microcontrollers, Hardware Oriented Security and Trust, Cybersecurity and IoT. Anything that would have an “emphasis” in hardware then I’d suggest you go for that.

Sis, I want To Do {Be.(Computer Engineering)} which languages should i Focus on?? C++,python or Java?
@TheSn12
@TheSn12 3 жыл бұрын
All of them. They’re all equally as important in computer engineering. But if you really want to focus on one, the go for the one that you like or understand the most. That or, if you know exactly the kind of work you want to do, focus on the language that involves that kind of work (i.e. if the work is all Machine Learning then you’ll probably want to focus on Python because it’s easier to implement than the other languages). C++ is good for making/building complex applications while java, I believe, is good for GUI type applications.

I a graduated diploma in computer science now I want to start my degree programme by switching to computer engineering. The reasons is studying computer is not about software only a least one need hardware because their influx of mass programmers in CS that's make the CS degree less worth to me. Please what's your advice to me.
@TheSn12
@TheSn12 4 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, you’re pursuing a CompE degree because there’s more people with a CS degree? If so, I’d suggest going for a CompE degree only if you are a) truly interested in the hardware aspect of engineering or b) absolutely hate programming or software development. If you’re just going because there’s more competition finding a career with a CS degree then I don’t think it’s worth getting a degree in CompE. Just keep applying to CS jobs and you’ll find one eventually, just don’t give up.

Computer engineering is important field to fill the huge gap between electrical engineering and computer sciences. Main job are 1. Building Computer (Hardware, Software, Network but mainly hardware) 2. Building Embedded System for all electronics, vehicle, machine etc (all that needs to be controlled need chip/microprocessor) Those two field that can beat electrical engineering and comouter sciences people. Because they dont understand about computer architecture, microprocessor chips and embedded system. Hardware king and hardware is always needed
