I went down the self help rabbit hole and loved what I heard but I couldn't apply it for some reason. Then one day I was running late for work and mad at the world and it hit me. I said to myself why am I mad? These people going slow in front of me did nothing to make me so mad. I then realized I was actually mad at myself for not being more responsible and leaving the house just a few minutes earlier, but I was projecting that anger at those that did not deserve it. It was a cop out so I didn't have to change and grow. Then I just started making myself the problem. No matter what was happening, I asked myself how can I be better next time. What did I potentially do to make this happen? By constantly pointing the finger at me instead of the world, I slowly started to change and I became so much more happier and free front bad emotions.

Jordan Peterson has been pushed by the media using a bit of reverse psychology. He holds quasi male blame mentality about why most young men are struggling instead of asking what changed in so,y,cietty, which pushes women ahead and constantly break down males and giving extra weight against men when applying for jobs and college, school systems which blame boys or neglect them... calling men toxic masculine... etc but Peterson doesn't bring that up everytime as the primary problem being done by Leftists on purpose. He also wants Digital ID using "bullying" as the excuse which is what the Leftists want. The deepstate always likes to use infiltrators claiming to be Christian's like with the coffee company that turned out to be leftist anti-gun while claiming to be conservative. Be discerning on who this University professor that became big out of nowhere really is.

Jordan peterson is not an atheist and does not advocate for a worldview that does not in corporate an external higher power. He frames God through a lens of the Bible most often, he just doesn't adhere to what the modern Church's interpretation dogmatically perpetuates. Whether the modern church has it right or not he is using the Bible and nature which is what the Bible asks us to do to interpret the word through. I would really encourage you to listen to his biblical series.

The pressure to produce a video every day can lead to this. Peterson's work needs deep reading or listening. Hours, days, weeks of listening and trying to reason out what he says. It's no matter if he believes in a god or not. Trying to sort people into believers and non-believers is exactly what Peterson contends is the biggest problem our society faces, i.e. sorting people into groups instead of dealing with each other as individuals.

JP is a man of science and there is no way to scientifically know if there is a god in the Judaeo-Christian sense. What there is evidence of is that the "word of god" as presented in the Judaeo-Christian tradition is true. When applied it does yield the personal fulfillment and stable societies that it promises. Personally I do hope these words came from god, but if they are merely tens of thousand years of accumulated knowledge and Darwinian trial and error that is still really good. We have our whole lives to come to terms with our faith, but we don't have time to put off living a good life. Stay on the path, fight the good fights, and at least have faith in yourself.

Well to generalize the Atheist population like that is a bit shortcoming of said population. I consider myself atheist and I consider myself mostly aligned with the christian / conservative population. It's just because the bible (taking the new testament here) has some pretty basic ground rules. But so does the Torah, Quran and basically every other religious teaching. It's almost as if religion was a central pillar in society and this pillar provided a set of basic rules to live by. It was Peterson that, for me at least, provided a more grounded understanding of the bible and the meaning behind it. It still doesn't make me a christian, but it did provide a lot of insight for me. As a westerner, the bible also made the most sense as it was the most prevalent religion around here, but that's just mere logic.

Hi. I agree that Jordan has changed people's perspective on Christianity, and in a good way.....and that he appreciates some of the finer points of the messages within the Testaments....Yet, I have never heard him profess Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. JBP isn't an atheist. He approaches the bible from a secular, psychologistic viewpoint which is appealing to atheists. He has singlehandedly brought me back from being a hardline atheist, near-antitheist, to being an agnostic atheist that sees the great benefit Christianity has been and is to western society, particularly American society. I would definitely encourage you to move Peterson's book closer to the top of the stack and to also check out his biblical lecture series. @@atomicsmith I'd say that career atheists and antitheists are dogmatic just like fundamentalist Christians, but not all atheists and Christians are dogmatic. I think the key thing to find out is if they are gnostic (believes they have spiritual knowledge) or agnostic (believes that god's existence is unknowable). If they're agnostic, they're probably not dogmatic, if they're gnostic, they're much more likely to be dogmatic.

You talking about making the bed, reminded me of this speech given to graduating students. “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. If, by chance, you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that’s made. That you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.” - Admiral William H. McRaven

I think Sam Harris said it well when he said Peterson is credentialed in his field and when he deals with mainstream scientific theories, he is very knowledgeable and is an authority on the subject. Sam Harris said that the problem was he talks with the same confidence and authority on topics that are not well accepted and have not been proven. The problem is the listener does not have the ability to easily determine where the mainstream stuff stops and the pseudo-intellectual stuff starts. The few times I listened to him, I felt that he went into these long explanation using very scientific terms but in the end, I had no clue what he actual said. It sounded very scientific. It had the air of authority, but in the end if you try to analyze what he just said, it is just woo woo. The Woo-Woo Master is still Deepak Chopra. He just throws a bunch of technical or scientific words and phrases together that mean absolutely nothing but to many it sounds like he knows what he is talking about. Peterson does the same thing IMHO and I no longer attempt to listen to him even if he is in a debate with someone who I find interesting, like Sam Harrison.

Jordan Peterson is NOT an atheist! If you actually listen to him he has literally debated with atheists about the existence of God. He has, in his own words said that he acts as if God exists. And he doesn't presume to be inventing these wisdoms. He has hours and hours of biblical lectures and teaches the importance of the wisdoms of biblical and archetypal stories. Instead of making up your opinions on the one podcast with Rogan, you should have looked up his KZbin channel "Jordan B Peterson" and you can find that he does not disregards the Bible and that he has an entire biblical series from Genesis to Revelations. And if you would have read 12 rules for life, you would find that he references the bible many times. I think you just have a knee jerk reaction to the secular types and assume that they are all atheists.

You do not have to be indoctrinated and follow the bible to the word or bow to God with every action you take to be a good person, be intelligent and work to make a difference in society. Cody starts to go off on this tangent. To believe in self empowerment and more over, self accountability but also feel that you need to have faith in a higher power to accomplish your goals are completely counter to each other in my opinion. That is not to say you can not believe in self accountability AND have spiritual faith, but to say you CAN NOT have one without the other how Cody seems to be portraying his opinion makes no sense to me.

Beautiful! You nailed it. Let me preface, I found Jordan about 2 years ago. He opened my mind up to the truths of Christ, and ultimately was the catalyst that lead me to my salvation in Jesus. As a now born again Christian, I see how God used Jordan to call me to HIM. I see where Jordan falls short, but I have hope that many are like me and have come to the Lord through Jordan's teachings. That being said, I agree 100% with your take. I especially love your analogy about the house. Sadly, I have the 17 year old son you describe living in my home right now. He is every bit as delusional about why he isn't finding success as the fictitious boy you describe. Despite my calls for him to be accountable and of course my advice that he know the Lord, he is stubbornly holding tight to his excuses. Please pray for him to have his eyes and heart opened. Blessings to you!

13:50 you speak of intellectual laziness while you are making a video about a man who you haven’t even read his book. You call him a hard core atheist when he identifies as a Christian. You can’t even get his credentials correct. He’s a clinical psychologist not psychiatrist. There’s a big difference. Just maybe you could listen to his bible lectures. They are available on his KZbin channel but also through his podcast for audio only while working around the shop. @64lkdwg - The best defender of Christianity right now is Dr. Ravi Zacharias, who does accept the divinity of Jesus. We appreciate JBP's defense of Christianity for whatever defense he has for it, but really now, he does not accept the deity of Jesus and that Jesus was the first born from the dead, and handles the resurrection story as if it were just another metaphor and one that was parallel to other religions and philosophies, so he may not be atheist, but not Christian if he denies the deity of Jesus. JBP also presents the bible as "fiction" and analyzes it according to psychology theory and psych-philosophies, instead of respecting the divine persons and power of which the Bible consists.

Why is it that even the slightest hint of atheism, scares the most devoted, and therefore the criticism of Jordan Peterson. JP, doesn't and never did strike me as an atheist, he does however come across as a genuine Christian, by virtue of his moral compass and dedication to the truth. I believe in Christ and I am a Christian. I do however draw the line on poking at someone, simply due to their seemingly lesser believe's in Christ or the bible. I too have not read his book, but will now.
@mtlicq
@mtlicq 6 жыл бұрын
Jesus really was controversial even in His days in the world in human form, and "moral compass" doesn't fit what He was about. This can be said since He defended the guilty adulteress-harlot when the technically virtuous "moral" ones were about to condemn her, He drank and ate with outcasts and slept during an emergency on the sea and the others in the boat were panicking, and He sided with Mary who lounged around and socialized while Martha was working so hard to help hosting well, and He supported equal pay for the vineyard workers who worked only a short time same pay as those who laboured all day long. Christianity is not a moral compass. Respecting the divinity of Jesus compared to denying his divinity, that is the dividing line. If one denies Jesus' divinity, then He will deny us as His own.
@TheGardenerNorth
@TheGardenerNorth 6 жыл бұрын
mtlicq I'll first read JP's book to understand if he is denying Jesus, his divinity, if that is the point your trying to make. Although I'm pretty sure that the book is not about being a better Christian, but more about being a strong and decent individual that is in control of his or her life. I can appreciate your reply, but really do not need to be preached to. I'll leave that to God, Jesus and the bible in the console of my truck.

Stop using a God as a crutch. All religions are a guide on how to live you life. Its the principles that are important. Jordan is explaining the principles about how to live you life. Its important that one hears the message and not to get bogged down in the details. Asking a God to help you achieve something is the same as asking yourself. Some of what I’m going to speak to has already been mentioned, but the quick point are Prof Peterson is a Clinical Phycologist not Physiatrist,his book is 12 Rules for Life, An Antidote to Chaos, and he not an atheist, as he stated he is a Christian (a relationship between him and God that I will not judge). Although I don’t share all of Prof Peterson’s believes he is a well-spoken, well researched individual, who is an adamant supporter of free speech and rejects the government’s intrusion into that arena. The Prof. has dared to wonder into the mine field of “political correctness” (PC) to challenge the direction society seems to be heading regarding gender and gender identity at great risk to his personal and professional reputation. He often takes a position of Physiology vs Psychology that upset (enrages) many of the Social Justice Warriors (SJW). This is a courageous position given his environment is largely intellectual and academic (University). In debates, the SJW camp tend to get frustrated with theProf. because of his adamant reliance on relevant research and his refusal to get dragged into a visceral or emotional argument. Cody thank you for sharing your thoughts on this is complex and emotion issue.

Peterson is a very well educated culture warrior who has really earned his stripes fighting in this very dark secular world!!!...and he has has helped many, could you go to him as a believer and ask him for help, if in his power or ask him how to deal with certain issues with our culture, Yes and would he turn you away, No, I think he is an upright individual Luke 18:18, but he is not a believer, ... he is truly a person in process, he is searching for truth, but because he is a "rich man"...it will be harder for him to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, than to pass a a rope thru the eye of a needle....it is only possible, by deconstructing the rope "the strong person" and passing it/him or her thru the eye of the needle a strand at a time...an arduous/impossible purpose...but what is impossible for man, is possible with Elohim...yay?? xD...you will however, be truly thankful after going thru the processing, but know,... nothing will be spared.. and individuals who are "rich in themselves" in whatever, instinctively know nothing will be spared and do their utmost to avoid at all costs this processing, this dying to self..
