The line between perpetrator and victim is blurred. The woman that helped with the child soldier recruit does evil, but she was essentially forced into it. The commander was a child soldier, his experience shape him into a monster today. It's hard to root or feel bad for anyone in this story except for the actual victims who were killed for disobeying. The whole situation is just sad for Africa.

I hate to say this I don’t want to take away from the situation but this is a regional issue not a continental one. Africa is huge you can’t generalize, you can fit all of the US, India and quite a bit of Europe in the continent and then some …..there are over a billion people. So it’s a huge generalization and African peoples don’t like it.

25 years for a child soldier who was forced to follow a path he didn't choose and repented. Not only is it extremely little time and offers no real help to the actual victims, but the bussinessmen, politicians and warlords who profit from all this suffering are still at large. Dominic was abducted at the age of 10. He was not help by the Uganda government. He was trained to do what he did. He did what he was trained to do so that he could survive. Now the ICC accused a man who was manipulated at a young age. The right person to stand up for trials is Uganda's warlord and tormentor Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. He took power in 1986,it is 2021 what should we call that? Democracy !!!🤔🤔🤔. It is because of these greedy men like Museveni that people like Joseph Kony will always raise.

So the old lady who recruited the 10 old who would then go on to committee his own crimes thinks he should go to jail? Fine but what about her? She kidnapped a child and turned him into a child soldier. They brought up a good point which I really would like to hear more about. How do you punish someone who is both victim and a perpetrator? I hope they figure it out soon so more justice and counseling can forge ahead. There is so much to consider. Europe divided up Africa without taking any account of tribes. Currently they have the World Bank strangling them with loans and they are a dump site for food and textiles which kills their local famers and factories. You can't royal f a place up and not expect the people and government to be f-ed up to.

Africa is a sad place. Difficult to even have an opinion on this story, it's just messed up. Currently, Ethiopia's Tigray rebels are proudly displaying their child soldiers with the New York Times praising the rebels' resolve. What a sad world we live in. ((...we do know what makes life worth living. The people ...loved and they were loved. They were mothers and fathers; they were husbands and wives; sisters and brothers; sons and daughters; friends and neighbors. They had hopes for the future and they had dreams that were not yet fulfilled. And if there’s anything to take away from this …it’s the reminder life is very fragile. Our time here is limited and it is precious. And what matters at the end of the day is not the small things, it’s not the trivial things, which so often consume us and our daily lives. Ultimately, it’s how we choose to treat one another and how we love one another. It’s what we do on a daily basis to give our lives meaning and to give our lives purpose. That’s what matters. I was confused about that as well so looked it up: the trial _began_ on December 6, 2016. He was only found guilty on February 4, 2021, and sentenced on May 6. The footage seems to be from across the trial and not all sequences are labeled to show exactly when they were shot. So the parts with masks are likely from 2020 and later.

Unfortunately the most memorable part of the Kony 2012 campaign was when campaigner Jason Russell completely lost his marbles and stripped naked in the street, vandalized some cars, and started making sexual gestures towards whoever was around before getting arrested. He said this project had gone so much to his head that he felt like saving the world had become his responsibility. Sad to see that 9 years later Kony is still at large in the bush.

I did mean that it was unfortunate, it's great that this group had such initiative and knew how to mount a slick media campaign to build awareness, but it is disappointing that these abductions are still going on, as this VICE video explains. I don't know how much of a chance they ever had, or if this social media approach could truly work; it's great that they tried and sad that it ended this way. I just read some interviews of this campaigner and it sounds like he had a really tough time, and I'm sure he feels guilty about this episode overshadowing so much of his work and that of others.
