It hurts, knowing that this is still going on. My friend and part of her family fled in the late 90s/early 2000s (I'm not sure when exactly) from Congo due to conflict, when they came in the night and took her father, uncle and older brother. She doesn't really talk about it, but I understand that this is not a trauma one wishes to relive.

If there is one thing I learned from journalism is that you never trust what they say when they speak about army’s killing civilians. It’s never that easy, believe me. You need to know everything behind the story before saying anything. Of course it’s never a nice thing to kill and robe civilians, but Europe did it until 1945 and the USA has done it a few times in the last years. Just like “the atomic bomb was necessary!1!1” also this murders could be necessary. We always need to study the argument from closer

@Thot Police He tried to get it removed but the auctioneer convinced him that they would do it themselves and that they could do it without damaging the paint. The actual story from ABC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2WtpGt4osd7eJY By the by, how would a *Texan* profit from having his car being used by ISIS? I mean, regardless of the fact that he can't go international, and that he lives in one of the most conservative states, one in which he & his kids probably would (& have) receive(d) hundreds of threats over the issue, it's only a "good" look in about three countries and a placement on some sort of a watchlist for about every other country. Next time try cutting down on the assumptions a bit? On that note, since you know the gist of the story now, it would be a good time for the snarky remarks.

This entire 'documentary' is an exercise in white people looking in and seeing a desperate man trying to unite and empower his people, giving them hope, and calling him a criminal for it. A people who have been abused and persecuted by shadowy groups with no apparent goals other than death and mayhem, armed with weapons after supposedly being demilitarized. If two factions fight against each other, none of the hands ends up being clean, all of them getting dirty, but only the winner has the opportunity to wash his hands after, because the loosers hands keeps being dead and dirty. Its not a bad idea to implement combat hardened groups into your army, because if you let them guard their homeland, they will fight much harder and better than any other troops you could deploy there. And yes, Kongo has a lot or ressources, that would not be the first time a war gets startet because someone wants some ressources. @@devonmolina5200 Imagine a rag tag group of people about to invade your house and murder your family and children. Would you give your children a gun to defend themselves? Child solders are not acceptable in the western world, because the western world does not have the same problems. However, perhaps, the situation is different in Africa... Yea, it can be interpreted as recruiting child solders, or it can be viewed as giving children the ability to defend themselves. It's all in the narrative.

7:00 is horrifying and gut wrenching. My heart broke for this woman. I have 6 kids, & have always had a fear of something awful happening, like having a fire break out overnight, & me not being able to save all of them. I can't even imagine how difficult her life must be, ESP being wracked with the guilt, of having to have made that awful, impossible choice, to flee with some of her kids, knowing the rest would be killed, & not being there for them, while the end of their lives were filled with such terror & agony. I don't even know how this woman is sitting there today, let alone, able to talk about it, without falling apart. I wouldn't be able to function. I hop things improve for their area- knowing that so many people have to live in a reality, where that could happen anytime, is just awful, & I wish there were something I could do, to make it stop. This is insane, in the worst possible way😥

The UN is bound by what the countries want it to do. It has no way of collecting taxes - it basically relies on "donations". It has no way of pulling together an army from its own citizens - most are volunteers from developing countries. If Congo says they don't want the UN helping more than what the Congo government thinks is right, then the UN has absolutely no way to do something else (they can be expelled, their money might get pulled, etc). For sure there are problems with any organization, but the UN literally can only do what the countries say it can do. Outside of what people think the UN does, they have saved probably hundreds of millions of lives with aid. But they don't have the ability to just decide to overthrow a/any government

UN’s biggest purpose is to prevent another World War after it was created in 1945, something they are failing at, they can’t even bat an eye at the Mexican drug war, a brutal conflict south of the US border...
