So for this performance he was given the same points as someone breaking the1500m WR set by El Gerrouj? can you see how stupid that is!
@decaDBZ
@decaDBZ Жыл бұрын
Lol no. His performance is beyond the prior 400mH WR by more than a quarter of a second. The prior record of Kevin Young stood at 46.78 and Karsten ran 46.52 here, in his first race of the season no less. So to see that such a perfomance gets the same points as someone breaking the 1500m isn't a surprise at all. The prior record of 46.78 is worth a 3:26.46 1500m which is behind the WR. Karsten took 0.84s off the previous World Record. If the 1500m WR were 3:26.46, then in terms of percentage that would be like someone coming along and running a 3:22.75.
@eddiehinchliffe7345

@@decaDBZ You can't compare by pure percentages and act like it's equivalent, that's not how these events work. Regardless, the 1500m is one of the strongest records in all of track and field, this performance simply isn't worth more than a 3:26, think about how crazy everyone has found Jakob Ingebritsen running barely below 3:28 and that should put it into context.

1309 points is crazy good. For perspective, no 100m runner in the last decade has ran 9.70 seconds (1309 points). Only Bolt/Blake/Gay have scored 1309+ points in the 100m, the same way only Warholm, Benjamin & Dos Santos have scored 1309+ points in the 400mH & no one else. Also only Bolt/Blake/MJ/Lyles have got that many points or higher in the 200m, even Knighton's 19.49 is below 1309 points. Some WRs aren't this many points. Faith Kipyegon's recent 1500m & 5000m don't reach the 1300s. This is the best performance of the year track & field wise imo. Ingebrigsten's 1500m time was crazy, a European record ahead of people running a North American & Australian record in the same race, & yet Warholm's run is of a higher tier.
