Fun fact: in the final season of Key and Peele, the in between sketches thing that they do, it's a road trip to the middle of the desert. Why? Because in the final episode, they stop in the middle of nowhere, to call their wives bitches. It's a very big omage to their first sketch, which is about hiding from their wives to call them bitches

This a sincere opinion of mine: for some reason, I found 90% of K&P far funnier than SNL, I find only 10-15% SNL funny.
@scoutymcscoutface2957
@scoutymcscoutface2957 5 жыл бұрын
That may be because a) SNL is live, and b) they have to get their scripts/props/effects ready within a week. K&P is prerecorded and extensively prepared, so their skits are more polished and "cinematic." Also, Key and Peele excel at writing and acting while SNL is hit-or-miss depending on the host and season.

Do don't known, a study come out that the media have a 70% of Russian coverage, in relation to Trump, even the mainstream comedians is the only think that they cover about, no speak about the corruption in DC, universal healthcare or universal education, how the corporations had brought the politicians or how they slowly are destroying the country and sell it to say corporations, no, no, that would offend the people that pay them, so they keep their mouth shut.

Great video. I discovered K&P like a year ago and I love it. But there's a thing you didn't adress, it's the awesome cinematographic quality of the sketches. It plays a lot in how you perceive various elements of the sketch, it helps setting the tone only to subvert your expectations. Its very strong in the sketch "Family Matters", where they film a short sketch with the same attention to detail as they would film a big budget series/movie. It's really not your average sketch. Seeing taking their work so seriously only wants me to find out more. They really nail every aspect of life, social commentary, they could picture any genre. Best comedy ever. Or at least top 3 !

Key & Peele are also unique insofar as they're both bi-racial (half-Black/half-White). It enables them to code switch and play racially diverse, as well as ethnically ambiguous characters. They don't' even need to go into "White"-face to play White characters, and that's something which makes them super special.

That's the 'thoughtful" portion of it. Flipping the script back to what it's making fun of, a ton of names are actual pretty normal, simplistic and easy to pronounce in their own context. Yet because they break from the "stereotypical white names" mold, their commonality is looked over. Yes the mispronunciation is really funny. But the meet of the comedy comes from the fact that a lot of stereotypical white names are full of the same levels of complexity and variation as non stereotypical white names, so what if we took them out of a context where they were the norm.

I used to really like Key and Peele, but about a month ago I rewatched some of their sketches and I felt like some episodes had the same punchline. Y talks about something or is about to do something (like telling a joke or explaining something), X does a something that's weird and out of line, Y reacts surprised to said thing but lets it slide and continues, X reacts in the same manner but more exaggerated, Y reacts more surprised and sometimes tells X to stop or to do something else, Y keeps going, X does the same thing again but now to an extreme degree and Y either stops X entirely or figures out that X is doing it on purpose. Some sketches don't follow this example perfectly, but many do follow this kind of pattern. Of course, this comes from someone who just watched their sketches again, and I did enjoy them the first time I watched them, so I ultimately it didn't really matter for me.

Hey guys, love the videos. Could you do one on either Family Guy and/or The Simpsons? They were super popular shows that fell off quality-wise after a while. I loved both. I can't really even watch either these days. I'd love you guys to dig into the how and why. Thanks!

I would just like to apologize to all the white people who only notice when jokes are made about them and seem to overlook any jokes or stereotypes regarding any other race. It must be so hard being grouped in with the rest of the people they're making fun of.

It’s unfortunate that K&P continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes of the military; namely that it’s solely the path of the poor, minorities, and the dumb. The military is, on average, better educated than the general population. Per HuffPo (!): “82.8% of U.S. military officers in 2010 had at least a bachelor’s degree, compared to 29.9 percent of the general population. 93.6% of enlisted soldiers had at least a high school diploma, compared to 59.5% of America.” And that’s not even counting those who have a graduate-level experiential and classroom education in various fields. Regarding the idea that it’s mostly the poor (a relic of the Vietnam era): “A 2008 Heritage Foundation study found that soldiers were actually more likely to come from middle to upper-middle-class backgrounds. In fact, the lowest income neighborhoods are significantly underrepresented, while the highest income neighborhoods were the most overrepresented.” (VeteransComingHome.org) The part that rips on the VA is okay though. Fuck those guys. 😁

angel ortiz it wasnt the fact they had a sketch comedy show it was the organization and presentation of both the standup sequences and sketches that was hella similar and even the themes of the sketches were very similar to sketches dave had already done or would have done had the show continued atleast imo. thats also why dave himself mentioned it in his most recent standup on netflix.

I mean, it's very likely that, given multiple practising groups of Wicca today and their general beliefs, that the guy got help from them recovering from his addiction through a great support system and a strong belief system coupled with a healthy lifestyle. So even if it sounds like a joke it was likely true.

not gonna take away from their comedy or how humorous it is but most of these facts can be also said about the Chappelle show , especially when it comes to presentation of their skits. k&p are funny I just can't help but watch and see a different version of the sketch comedy formula that face Chappelle gave us and it just happens to be on the same network
@valeoncat13
@valeoncat13 7 жыл бұрын
It's true they use the same formula and the comedic critiques are targeting the same areas as well. I don't think their show exists as this Chappelle Show rival that everyone keeps trying to set it up to be. Their just 2 sides of the same coin. Just like Ugly Americans was more or less a Futurama with a different skin on.
