Hey Wisecrack, You've given me so much inspiration to delve deeper into certain philosophers and theories through your videos. I would like to make a suggestion surrounding this: Wouldn't it be awesome to recommend certain books or documentaries in the description of these video's. After appreciating Nolan more after this video, I also feel the urge to know more about Paul Ricœur, and the Hermeneutics of which he speaks, but when searching for books written by him, I get lost in a maze of them. The man has written a lot. For instance I am now happily reading 'Alamut' because of the Assassins Creed video, because you mentioned it in the video itself, but I now wanna delve deeper into Paul Ricœur and hitting a wall. I am curious to which books or sources you used to come up with all the things you say in this video. I hope you will consider posting titles into the description of videos, or hell, mention them in the video itself, like you did with Alamut! Satoshi Kon is a far better fit for this. 2 of his movies even got rip off/inspired by Hollywood. Perfect Blue & Paprika = Black Swan & Inception

Not at all, In the case of the Inception, Nolan took the inspiration of the shared dream concept from Paprika. There's a scene in Inception where Nolan makes an hommage to the movie (When Ariadne break the glass in the bridge at Paris). Rip off is not the same as inspiration. Mind the difference!

If they can stretch Christopher Nolan's philosophy out to three videos, I'm sure that they can make at least one decent-length video of Michael Bay. Everybody has a philosophy, Michael Bay included. I won't call it the deepest movie ever, but he had a few things to say in _The Island_, and he _does_ have a philosophy on how real-life militaries are to be depicted on-film. I can't say that his films themselves are philosophical, but he also does have a fairly comprehensive philosophy on how to make a film, as well as a philosophy in real life. Those could be explored.

As good as Nolan is at making large thematic events and questioning reality, he mostly only plays with big ideas. He's not really good at making characters you care about, and for that reason I never really want to watch any of his films more than once (other than the Dark Knight, but that's because of Heath Ledger.) He makes cinematic jigsaw puzzles: you might have to work to make the pieces fit, but once you're done there's not really a reason to take it out of the box again.

Yeah, I find that Nolan films don't hold up when it comes to rewatching. Characters definitely one of his weaknesses. I think his protagonists are kinda a self insert in a way. They're all brooding bland male characters, usually they're sad because of their dead wife/girlfriend & it makes them ~cool & edgy~ but beside that they're pretty flat and not compelling. There is also a lot of unnecessary exposition in his movies and his visuals are crisp & clean but make shit bland too. Inception has a cool dream concept and was inspired by Satoshi Kon's Paprika and comparing the two, you can see really see how bland Inception looks and its about going into other people mind, their dreams, about Dreams! But why does it look so dull and boring? lol
