@@RROD1978 Not very good. The trauma caused a disease that effects your autonomic nervous system, called CRPS. It ranks highest in the McGill pain chart. Usually it’s localized to the areas of the trauma, but it can spread as mine did. I’ve recently been diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease. I can’t help but wonder if the CRPS played a part in that or was I destined to come down with anyway. Thank you for asking!

If they tell you a fluffed up version of the ‘mild’ side effects, imagine that as the tip of the iceberg. For the truth, visit Facebook kidney donor support groups.

With the anger out of the way, this doesn’t mean that a person can’t donate their kidney and it be a good thing for the universe. Just be careful of those quick to call you a hero and good person for wanting to donate a part of yourself. Those voices will not be around when you are facing the very real potential hardships down the road. You must be self sustained and able to see the recipient of your kidney donation die a week after receiving your kidney, and still be okay with your decision. If you can do that, and there wont be any regrets what so ever, then you are probably a good candidate to begin to explore being a donor. Never do it for money, or because you think you will gain virtue points for doing so. This is an extremely difficult balance to maintain in life. Good luck to all those considering this path and I hope if all goes through, you make someone’s life markedly better for many many years.

Eaf Lun yeh I understand what you mean but I feel sad for the parents imagine everything they've done for us, some parents are still quite young and have so much to live for. I think if my mum was really bad and there was no other option I would help her because I love her so much and truly appreciate everything she's done for me. I would donate to my kids also but as for my husband hmmmm.. not sure about that one!! ;) lol

flyhigh A My point is that while a kid may want to donate, no parent should allow them. Especially if it's a risky donation like a liver. I'd much rather die than face the prospect of my child dying, especially dying to save me which is completely avoidable. I understand where you're coming from though.
