I was thinking chihuahua and cairn terrier or similar terrier, maybe even yorkie, but mixed with something else still. I saw the Chihuahua in the eyes and nose in the profile right away. The rest sort of does look like brillo pad, dust and pizza crust. The width of the jaw and thickness of the body does say pug, or maybe lhasa apso. The only lhasa I ever knew was too mean to get close enough to it to tell much about it. It was my aunt's dog. A groomer's nightmare.

Dogs are good, it's hard to go wrong. I say mine is like the Cadillac in the old Johnny Cash song from my childhood. Someone built a car by stealing one part at a time from the factory over the course of years. My dog has a small head, wide body, short legs, a crazy stiff tail, etc. She looks like she wasn't "planned", just thrown together. But dang, she's cute.
