I ran without a dropper for over 20 years on mtb.. Then I bought one and honestly while is was handy.. I wasnt 200 quid handy.. The only time I went near it was the top or bottom of a run.. It took me slightly longer to undo my quick releases and raise or lower the seat.. Anyways I sold it and went to the ones with the handles you showed here.. Perfect.... Dont need a fancy remote controlled one for 200 bucks thats for sure.. Some people will buy anything, and swear by them.. Im just being honest.. thats how I felt after owning one.. Id much rather spend that kind of dosh elswhere on a bike..

Nice, I have those lever type on my older bikes. External route droppers are expensive so I settled with TranzX lever type. It,s better than no dropper at all.

I need a dropper post so i can get on my bike easily i have a bad back and getting on it these days is hard with the seat up. Hence the reason for post. I have the lever one at the seat.

Excellent! I actually settled in between for a cable driven PNW. Still sitting in a box beside me waiting for its time to shine.

It opens up a lot or possibilities, and spoils you at the same time imo. Lol worth it though

@@RomansDowntime I’ll take all the spoils I can get, tired getting bucked by rogue roots. I swear they move around. ;)

Part of me wanted to try PNW’s cascade as an external dropper for the mongoose. But the costs of the dropper/ lever were too much for me

Could someone assist me here? At coming up 92 I still ride my road bike - Lycra and all - but in spite of my thinking of myself as pretty fit, I am having a few flexibility problems now. Specifically with swinging my leg over the saddle when mounting/dismounting. Would a dropper post help here - down for off and on, up for riding? Any thoughts anyone?

Well that alone is really impressive. I don’t really know what kinda bike your riding. But from experience on a bike that seemed too tall. I could tell you, the only way I was able to mount the bike prior was with the help of a dropper. Seat would be lowered and was I was over the seat, I was free to raise it back up to climb. So TLDR, a dropper could help you in getting off and on the bike. You could always try your local bike shop and ask their opinion, they may even have bikes with droppers to try it out for yourself and test that opinion before you commit.

@@RomansDowntime Thanks for the prompt reply. The bike is a standard road bike, and to ride with the appropriate leg extension/seat height, I now find it a bit high to swing over. This only a recent problem, and obviously I still manage, but a bit of a balance problem is creeping in. Looks as if a non-cable post might be the answer.

I'm in the same boat! Getting difficult swinging my leg over the seat. I'll probable end up spending my SS cash installing a dropper post just for mount/dismounting.

Sorry mate, we are supposed to speak the same language but nah. Maybe it's my age or something . I'm 72 but I really didn't understand a lot of what you said. It was like a foreign language to me. Do you understand old English people when they speak? Mind you there are an awful lot of Brtish accents that I have to concentrate on too.😅 I'm from Cornwall in the far Southwest of the UK. Will checkout dropper seats elsewhere.
