When someone tells me something I lose concentration easily when I read something I find myself just reading and not taking anything in. I try to visualize what they say, when I read something I say it out loud so i can hear myself say it, I've found writing out material helps me a lot and the only way I can focus is if i'm listening to trance music. what kind of learner am I?

Learning styles are a myth. Nobody is a particular learning style, they are as effective as each other. Thats not to say we might not have preferences. But putting labels on things like this is at best dangerous, as life does not piecemeal learning out in this way.

I really do not want to throw dirt to somebody's channel, especially when they've tried to make good content, but there is no evidence at all for learning styles. It is a neuromyth and it is a disservice that we are expected to teach students in only one way because of a missinformed perception.

but I think people do have their preferred learning styles, coz I'm a auditory learner and my best friend is a visual learner, I learn best by listening and reading out loud, and my best friend learn best by writing notes,she like to use different colors to help herself memorise better ,we have been doing this before we know our "learning style" (I never understand why she got so many highlighters until she told me she memorise things by "screenshotting"the whole page, sometimes i don't even open my textbooks during lessons )

Help, why do I believe I am all of these (except for the visual one)?? I feel like I learn best when I am reading and writing, but I have no patience for that most of the time and end up mostly just chaotically trying to absorb information while I restlessly fidget around. In school I only got by because I memorized what the teachers said in class + speed-read all material the night before an exam.

Numerous studies to claim that such visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners exist didn't use the proper research design to have credible data. There is lacking or even weak evidence to support that accommodating to the learning styles will be more effective for learning. Well of course blind people have to use their ears and deaf people have to observe with eyes, but that's the thing; we use nearly all of our senses when we learn things, and it also depends on the material that is being taught. A few sources, maybe these will convince you www.psychologicalscience.org/journals/pspi/PSPI_9_3.pdf Sharp, John G.; Bowker, Rob; Byrne, Jenny (September 2008). "VAK or VAK-uous?: towards the trivialisation of learning and the death of scholarship". Research Papers in Education. 23 (3): 293-314. doi:10.1080/02671520701755416. Franklin, Shirley (March 2006). "VAKing out learning styles-why the notion of 'learning styles' is unhelpful to teachers". Education 3-13: International Journal of Primary, Elementary and Early Years Education. 34 (1): 81-87. doi:10.1080/03004270500507644. All this is good however you have not addressed the 5th component and that is handedness. Left handers do not learn the same as right handers. Your clip board is turned for right handers as the clip would interfere with our dominant hand. You also demonstrate using your right hand however it appears that your wedding ring is on your non typical ring finger. Your right hand not your left. this is visually confusing as many KZbin postings are posted flipping the image in the obverse. Which are you? We left handers every day have to evaluate and adapt to the material presented to us. Some continuity considering both handed viewers is in order here.

Is it possible to be more than one of these learning styles?.. or even use all these learning styles but in different situations? I feel like I do that.
@VanDowall5 жыл бұрын
None of the above! Plain and simple. I have a Receptive Processing Disorder. In short: too dumb to learn and no one offers help. If I ask for their help, "Sorry, I don't know how to help you." How about, "Let's see what you need to do and we'll try to figure it out together." Not even in my dreams would people suggest that. They simply don't want to get involved. I have to struggle alone and get frustrated after 16 hours of confusing efforts and have absolutely nothing to show for it. This goes on every single day/night. I have to fill out a disability update report or I will lose all my benefits (which isn't much), including doctor appointments, meds, transportation and bills. How do I ask someone for help when they don't know what my answers should be? And if I don't send it in, or do without finishing it, I'm forced to do without. I really don't have a choice. Most people know how to answer the most simple question: " In case of an emergency, who should we call?" My doctor? I don't know what to do, but just give up. I don't feel that's an option, but what do you expect?
@revupthegarden59974 жыл бұрын
God is the answer ... in the Bible Philippians 4:13 it says I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. The Apostle Paul is the one that is speaking he does not say this because of his own ability but rather he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him, that's enabling him to adapt to his various ever change in circumstances. God has ordered pauls circumstance or has allowed his various situations and God gives him the strength to be content in them all trying and perplexing though they may be. I can clearly feel your frustration in your writing but please know this there is certainly help for you I'm praying God will provide everything that you need, in the name of Jesus Christ the savior.

I'm definitely a visual and auditory person; I like to be able to see things and hear them, but i am also kinesthetic in the sense that me and digital learning do not get on. I need to have an actual physical copy of something, like a text book or planner that I can feel and write on myself. I guess that comes under being hands on. I'm also studying a degree in music, so being hands on probably comes from playing my piano, in that sense, i will watch a demonstration and then try it myself.
