What kind of trader are you? Tell us about your trading strategy? So what's your strategy when trading the markets? David Paul, Financial Trader and Managing Director - VectorVest U.K comments. PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE so we can do more! In the stock market I look to find companies that are making money, I want to buy undervalued companies that are aggressively growing their profits and are rising and I want to buy into those stocks when the general market is rising. I scan for stocks that are rising and reaching new highs but I'm very much careful about the general market. What kind of markets are you trading at the moment? I'm fully investing in the stock market - I trade currencies when I see opportunities - I've been short GBP/USD over several instances in the last 6 months. How much time do you spend analyzing the markets? In the stock market I do most of my analysis during the weekend - looking at fundamentals and trends - I have a system that monitors stop losses on that.
In the forex markets I mostly trade on a 4-hour chart - do you class yourself as a swing trader or an intraday trader? I'm mostly a swing trader but if I have time I will look at shorter-term charts and trading opportunities. I like trading the FTSE in the morning and the Dow in the afternoon on a 30-minute chart. I resolve not to risk more than I planned.

Trading strat: 1/ Find companies that are making money 2/ Undervalue stocks that are aggressively growing their earnings 3/ The general market (i.e. the ftse) rises all stocks rise same when falls. 4/ Buy into those stocks when the general market (general marker = FTSE) is rising 5/ Top down approach, looking at the general market i.e. FTSE, looking at the sector, looking at the share 6/ Fundamentals - value, earning potential, earning safety 7/ Markets he trades - Forex market, 03:19 Regarding the stock market he spends his weekends analysing fundamentals and trends using a system (genius) 3-4hrs forex - trades on 4 hour chart. Moves happen London session or afternoon sesh 8/ Risk management - Only risks a 3rd of a % on short term trades and half % on individual long term trades 9/ Add to winners

I wish more beginner traders watched videos like this, instead of watching videos of people buying expensive watches and flexing their wealth. You arent learning much from them. Yes it does help you dream of what you can eventually achieve in future, but it doesn't give you a realistic short term view.

This lesson is very important. If the general market is falling, but the prices of certain stocks keep on rising, don't buy. Don't be against the trend. Wait for the general market to rise again and then buy. Not many stocks are still under-valued. The prices of some under-valued stocks may be dormant for a long time. Find out the underlying reasons. Why these cannot attract buyers? This is quite normal as people follow the herds instinct. If there is nothing wrong with the fundamentals, then you may decide whether to put stakes on these under-valued stocks or not. Remember what Warren Buffett said, "When everybody fears, you should be greedy."

Like your video! What do you think about these: 1. FX Liquidity does not matter whether it is from closing a long or short position, it can be taken by MM/banker/any trader to open as a long or short position. Is this statement true or false? Please advise with detailed educational advice. 2. Because FX is a zero sum game, if the liquidity is worth USD$10.01m it cannot be taken one cent more or less it must be digested exactly with the same amount by the MM/banker/any trader. Is this statement true or false?

I have trouble adding to winners due to my trade usually being 20-30pips, does anyone have any advice? I usually enter with .25% or .5% risk
@reemlsilkworm

I assume your stops are in the 5-10 pip area? (or 6.2 pips?). Maybe try using a higher time frame, a larger stop, and a bigger target. Even better, you might do away with targets all together, and stop limiting your trades to 20-30 pips.. Why 20-30? What if the market moves 60-70, or 200-300? Will you still exit after 20-30? You can use market driven stops (trailing), and be content with what it has reserved for you. Never, ever, exit a trade unless you're stopped out. Not ever. Or else you are simply leaving masses of profit on someone else's table.

Don't agree with what he says about craps. The only similarities is there is an element of chance with trading just as with games of chance like craps, but just because a 7 doesn't show for so many rolls on a craps table, that gives you no fundamental edge. Each roll is completely unique and has the same probabilities as any other roll, you cannot beat craps doing this, all you can do is maybe capitalise on positive variance but that is just chance. In trading you can form a fundamental profitable edge, you cannot over rule the house edge against you on a craps table. The only game it IS possible to beat (other than obviously poker where you're playing against other players and not the house) is blackjack, where it is possible to gain a very small but significant edge by card counting under certain conditions, but such an edge is not possible with craps. So I see it as a bad analogy.

I disagree with adding to a winning trade. The market will eventually retrace and you’ll give back your profits because the later added trades will loose.
