Wow!! That's a lot of fancy kit there. I rode around India on a 1962 Enfield wearing a pair of Reebok trainers.... The wet muddy road leading North out of Manali was a bit of a mare on the old Enfield, I could've done with those waterproof socks, and I could've done with a battery charger (had to pop the bike in the back of a trailer with an ungregarious ram to find a handy fella who could charge the battery up in the mountains). Iceland looks interesting!

Good review Vanessa 👍,, there's no doubt that clever layering is absolutely the best way. Although a Gerbring heated gilet has been a great buy recently. Having your body core warm on even the coldest day is bliss! . I've got a Rukka jacket and Klim trousers but they are 10yrs old and a bit worn out!!. I recently bought the same Weise onyx evo jacket as you, purely because I like the colour, and it's a really nice jacket for the price. I think with a rain jacket on the wettest days it will be fine. Can you tell me where you got your camouflage rain trousers please...? Keep up the good work with the channel 👏 👍 Cheers, Steve
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
Yeah so true. I have the gerbing gillet and man it's amazing. I didn’t take it to Iceland honestly having ridden there would not take it. The batteries don't last long enough for the riding day or you have wires and with how wet it was it just feels like more hassle than its worth for enduro elements of the riding. That's just me though 🤪

Great video, what is the benefit of the armour and layering over an adventure style jacket which already has the armour incorporated? Does the leatt armour use D30 like most jackets? Thanks
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
For me it's practicality and also cost. I ride in lots of different temperatures and so layering, even in Iceland, enables me to add and remove warmth to adapt more easily than with a jacket /liner. I also find the Leatt armour is considerably more protective than those in jackets for the enduro, just the fact it has a full chest plate too. I've just never really trusted gortex jackets, in insanely wet conditions they always seem to have an...ok no more water point... and you get damp and wet. This jacket is more of a shell so it NEVER gives up. Then finally the cost. With layers I can mix and match, requiring less high cost items such as the big jacket. Hope that helps and makes a little sense 👍

Vanessa hi , i was in Iceland on a trip with my wife in 2019. I saw you riding a Husqvarna 701 on a trip, in Iceland. I would be very pleased to hear your opinion: Was the motorcycle brought to Iceland by you or is there an option in this country to rent an adventure or dual-sport motorcycle and protected gear (boots, body protector, knee guards) or should i get it with me ? Where can you get the routes you rode in Iceland? How many days you ride in Iceland? Thank u, Excellent rider Vanessa ,wonderful videos !!
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
yeah for sure, the series of video should answer all those questions too. We did the trip with RideWithLocals, the only Icelandic enduro company and based just a 2h 45min flight from the UK. A fully-inclusive motorcycle Iceland trip on Husqvarna 701s with a support vehicle, fuel, food, mountain hut accommodation, trail snacks, beer and all the local gen from the Vikings running it. We had six days riding, covered roughly 1400km doing 9 to 11- hour riding days and got to see the real Iceland - which is unseen by most tourists. Expect to pay around €4400 per person. www.ridewithlocals.is You have to take you're own riding kit. They do with the approach that if you have your own kit your more likely to be of the level to manage the trip and so don't do kit hire. I'm not familiar with any other companies that do kit too in iceland. I would say taking your own is best as then you know you're comfortable too. The vikings know the land so planned the route etc. and we rode for 6 days, they were long days so that was a perfect length. Hopefully I answered all the Qs but shout if I missed something :-D I 200% recommend dude, you'll love it

Hi Vanessa can you name me the brand of the military waterproof pants? Is there a lining in the pants, agains temperatures below zero, because I am riding also in dry winter weather. For the rest a very interesting video, thanks for that.
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
they're actually military issue waterproofs so I would recommend trying an army surplus store. They are amazing for keeping you dry but they're not the toughest material so I am slowly shredding the ankle rubbing on the bike/boot. The Adventure Spec jacket is insane, So good. and word on the street is they plan to make trousers to match later this year. I'll get getting them 100%. They won't look as cool but will be harder wearing haha

@@WillysPerformanceCycleCtr thanks dude, I really like them. Sadly they're not quite strong enough for the wear on the boot to bike so I'm slowly ripping them but they keep me dry. A bit off topic, but do you have any experience with "foldable" levers? Will they really help save your levers if you drop your bike? I've dropped both my bikes and each time the lever on that side got messed up.
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
Yeah so I've had the renthal intellilevers on my enduro bike and rated them. I did break one but a mental fall will even kill them. I would say for adv or less hard enduro riding they're worth it. On my enduro bike now I have Acerbis wrap around guards and think they're amazing. Zero lever breaks since!
@ed.barker70693 жыл бұрын
A common trick is to ease off the bolts holding your levers on so that if you drop your Bike the levers rotate on the handlebar rather than break. (Obviously don't have the bolts too loose).
