Mangroves are the lifeblood of many coral reefs and protectors of many coastlines. In this episode we will explore the amazing mangrove forest in Bonaire's famous Lac Bay. You experience an alien world beneath this forest canopy that most will never see in their lifetime. You will learn about the mangroves symbiotic relationship to the amazing fringing reef of Lac Bay. We will first take you diving on this incredible reef and then take you deep inside the protective mangroves that you can only see, with limitations, through a local guide unless you are given special permission. See tarpon hiding deep within the forests canopy. See upside down jellyfish, anemones, juvenile fish that most will never see on the reef as the get their start in mangrove nursery. We will show you that there is life everywhere you turn - including on the mangrove roots. We will also share some of the unique challenges of filming a location like this. There is so much more. Shot in High Dynamic Range, with shots at or below the water line as well as seldom seen views from the sky. This is an immersive experience you won't want to miss.

Thank you! It really does need our protection. I did not mention this but the rainbow parrotfish only get their start is in mangroves. They would not survive otherwise.

Once again fantastic images, this video is so well put together that it seems like it is a dream. I think it's just a small step towards the feeling of National Geographic. The drone images are also a very nice addition. What a beautiful life, the life of a diver. Many compliments, Walter.👌🏼

Nice job Rich! The short snorkeling allowed during the Kayak tour was fascinating, and let me wanting more. There's so much life there, but most of it seems to be very small :)

Yes. It is a nursery for the reef. I was looking for a shark but no luck. We at least got the tarpons. They were hidden way back in the canopy away from the normal kayak spots.

Is this a shore dive in bonaire or is it a boat dive? I've never gotten this close to the mangrove. We've spent nearly a month there on vacation over 2 trips. The first location in the video.
