What Life in GUAM is Really Like 🇬🇺

After living on Guam for about 1 year (technically 9 months due to a 3-month travel), I have fully understood what I love and hate here.
In this video, I break down the 5 things I have come to really enjoy about life on the island, as well as the 5 things that drive me absolutely nuts.
As I break down these 10 points, I explore Ritidian's Lotte Loop to see what the Guam jungles (if you can call them jungles) are all about.
Come along for an exploration of some trails, limestone cliffs & caves, and sandy beaches. This vlog is raw and honest one.

Matt: it’s been ghetto for decades. The junk cars, old refrigerators; trash is just dumped anywhere. The loose dogs that are running around is also another thing.

Yeah I know as I can see. I saw a lot of dumping post-typhoon and the dog situation doesn't seem like it is getting any better

Even for the locals.. its really sad that guam in a sense of development is sooo behinds.. with its resources.. and repairs and all around costs... thanks always for pushing these videos!!! Its a great reality check for people coming to this "island paradise" 💪 keep it coming

The stray dog population problem started way back during the war. When the military left and couldn’t take their dogs they just let them lose. They still do it today because it’s hard/ expensive flying pets out of here unfortunately. I have a friend that moved to the mainland and had to leave their pets. Fortunately for them they have family members taking care of their pets until they’re able to fly them out.

Matt I Agree with You! The Cost Of Living on Guam Is Too Expensive!!!! And I am from Guam 😊 The people there Drive Too Damn Fast! To Go Nowhere! I Enjoy Watching You Vlogs On Guam 🇬🇺 Enjoy The Island While You Can 😊🤙

Yes, that is right. And so many drive so fast yet can't drive with the skills of a F1 driver, so they are reckless drivers. That's why I like the south the most, you can drive slow and enjoy the views. The central and northern region is full of nascar wannabe(s) 😂. Thanks for watching and supporting! Appreciate you! 🤜🤛

How often do you see the big gigantic spiders ?

HAHAHA great question!!! If i'm out and about, going to the stores/restaurants/home, barely ever. If i'm hiking, looking at the walls of buildings or near plants, quite often. I mostly see the banana looking spiders (black & yellow with big bodies and legs), but they are pretty harmless I believe. Huntsman spiders on the other hand, I have seen about 3-4 within 1 year. Just the right spot at the right time.

Hi Matt, this cost of living problem on Guam is started after covid years or it was common always (because it's an island which is pretty far from everything), or changed the business oppurtunity a lot nowadays? You are lucky with your work if you can stay there for months without serious financial problems.

Cost of living stems from many things, the majority because the island is so far away from everything and the military setting the price of rent for owners. Luckily, I have work on the island which allows for a more comfortable living situation but even then, most jobs won't pay you a fair amount to match the cost of living

@@MattReardonVlogsunfortunately these sort of things are the pretty same everywhere in the world, and we see exactly what should be change as soon as to make work better way our world but it depends on incredibly huge money.

You are right! Like a 12-pack of Coca-Cola at Payless is about $9. That's $1+ for a tiny can :( Expensive life here
