What they did is wrong and disgusting, but they’re right. Their life circumstances led them to where they are now in life. People who aren’t well off, live in slums, or bad neighbourhoods, who don’t have good influences in life are most likely going to end up in prison. Comparing to someone who is rich, and has lived a life filled with good influences, and not having to live in survival mode. So there isn’t equality, but I’m not defending their actions, nor should they be using it as an excuse for theirs. What they did was their own decision, and they are responsible for their actions.

@lovingthesoccerlife6 жыл бұрын
Actually it is way more expensive to have an inmate on death row. Having someone on death row usually leads to several appeals of the decision in court, and usually those people don’t have money for a lawyer. When this happens the lawyer is supplied by the state and the money to pay that attorney comes from our tax dollars. Making appeals to court are super expensive, and in addition the drugs that are typically used aren’t cheap either. The death penalty isn’t the solution to the predicament we are in currently, it’s just the bandaid to make people feel like they are getting things under control.
@lovingthesoccerlife6 жыл бұрын
Randall Munn I’m just saying that people who are on death row and typically the people who use more appeals and cost more money. Seeking the death penalty requires longer trials, and therefore cost more money (usually for an attorney provided by the govt). I’m not trying to muddy the waters, I’m just saying it like it is. If you look it up on any accredited source you’ll read the same thing. I’m not saying I don’t agree with the death penalty for murderers, but to say that it is less expensive than life imprisonment is just inaccurate. Maybe once upon a time the death penalty was less expensive, but now with the delays in getting to trial, longer period of time to get a jury together, longer trials, and very frequent appeals (all adding up the cost very quickly). It’s fine to disagree on whether the death penalty is a justified punishment, but it’s not up to interpretation of what is more cost effective.
@michellywithlove138 жыл бұрын
just because you don't have money or you are a minority does not mean you can kill people and have an excuse for why you are in jail. I can't believe they think they deserve life. they should accept that they ruined a family's life by taking their loved ones away from them.

not ALL humans are human. You don't seem to get the concept that some are sick and twisted and ALWAYS will be. It's sad but true. There is no place for them in human society. So stop trying to be all generous and loving and forgiving. It's nauseating and you have no grip on the realities and practicalities of what the fuck is really happening.

Rich people don't go to prison and/or commit crimes as much because they have more so they feel less need to take from others. And they are more likely to have been raised in more stable "better" families
@antonianuzzolo11848 жыл бұрын
Jacob, I completely agree with you to an extent. But consider the case of the woman on the right. She robbed, kidnapped, and buried alive an elderly couple. Is this a crime that is justified for the fact that she is impoverished? I think you are absolutely correct in the cases where poor people commit robberies, and I can even understand activities such as gang crimes because that is unfortunately the culture of some cities. However, when the transgressor has acted with gruesome intentions, I believe they should be held to justice, whoever they may be.

Actually, it means you get out of jail, which buys you a shit load of time and buys you a bad ass lawyer (making sure to pick the lawyer that donates the most money in electing judges etc) to talk to the DA and judge before a trial gets set to settle a deal: like paying a fine and getting probation/anger management classes etc. if you're poor though, you are usually tried the next day or two, and the best you get is a public defender.
