how does the cooler system work do you have to bring your own or do they provide
@FloridaSportFishing8 жыл бұрын
You can bring your own cooler for food/beverages/bait, but they tag and ice all fish in main fish boxes, distributed back at dock. - Capt Mike

Were you using a speed jig for the tunas? Did you use any other tackle for the tunas?
@FloridaSportFishing8 жыл бұрын
+Blake Selesnick On this particular trip deep into the Gulf, vertical jigging is the best way to score blackfin after blackfin. However when the bite is on they were certainly eat bait. Chunk baits and live flying fish. - Capt Mike

Capt. Mike I have a Dawia Tanacom 1000, I was wondering how big over a fish can I catch on it , and what's your battier source, I would Love for you to come to the Turks an Caicos one day brother, I love Deep Dropping we got a lot of yellow eyes , an black snappers ,have you ever caught a Black Snapper ? have a great day.
@FloridaSportFishing9 жыл бұрын
+Jus Blaze Yes, we have caught black snappers in the Bahamas - yum! Regarding the Tanacom 1000, I load mine with 65 lb. braid and as long as your connections are bulletproof and drag is set proper, you can really haul up some hefty groupers/snappers/etc. This is not the reel for monster swordfish, but will certainly handle bottom fish in 500-1200 ft. Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike

How much weight do u use to drop down

depends on current and depth, usually 2 lbs is ideal, though sometimes as much as 4 lbs.

I must say I was I went on this trip last year and was well disappointed I'm a hardcore fisherman will prepare with as much knowledge as someone has been fishing 50 years versus my 40years. Great Video! I own 2 electric reels. One for me, one for Wifey and there's no shame in using them if you have them. To those that have a problem with electric reels, I would suggest they go bear hunting with a .22cal. and see how that works for them. Its new technology and its more efficient. Its the future and that scares people. Electrics have a place in deep drop/ deep water fishing. If you want to crank up 4lbs of lead + the fish + weight of sea water from several hundred feet, knock yourself out. Its the 21st century. Times and things do change.

Curtis Jeffries use a reel with a high gear ratio....you could use dynamite too if you want, that’s even easier than an electric reel and you don’t need to replace batteries
@curtisjeffries98126 жыл бұрын
Nice thing about Lithium Ion batteries is that they're good all day, light and smaller than grandpa's ER battery. I own a Torium 30 and its great. But cranking up fish + Lead+ weight of seawater 64lbs/ft3 from 300ft or greater? Capt. Mike is going 600ft so yeah, use the electric. The future is here and electrics will only get more powerful, smaller and cheaper. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about Electric reels as it still comes down the the skill of the fisherman first, equipment being used second.

girls using electric reels be a man
@FloridaSportFishing9 жыл бұрын
+Michael Thurlow-Mendonca (Speed Twin Sportfishing) Thank you for watching. I am a man who likes to catch fish and utilize every tool at my disposal to make each trip as safe and as successful as possible. Crank a 3 pound lead for an hour or two with a few fish in between, no problem. Crank the same 3 lb lead from 800-1200 ft hundreds of times over 2 or 3 days straight with dozens of fish mixed in, and I'll take the power assist option. Its a tool like an electric kite reel, down rigger, etc.used only in certain applications. Plus, its fun as heck you should give it a try. In any case, thankfully we all have a choice. Thanks again and hope to make you a fan. - Capt Mike
