I love your personality and I appreciate how honest you are. I can sympathize with how you deal with relationships in general. I'm also looking forward to traveling (sometime in the future), and getting to know more about myself. Personal growth recently became my number one priority. I used to always care for others and lose myself in the process (because of my caring and empathetic nature), but i've learned that taking care of myself should be my priority. Knowing yourself and evolving as a person will in turn help others around you too. The impact that growing as a person can create is priceless and I'm happy for you! Stay blessed!

+Nessa Blue girl PREACH! Yes! One huge benefit of travel is forced growth. You can learn and grow anywhere but traveling gives you no choice. Thanks so much for your kind words!

This video was so great - I feel like you're videos are super open and honest compared to others I've seen, they're also really extensive and I leave with most if not all of my questions answered, so thank you!

I am coming to Korea in 6 days. SIX. Omg it's so close. This video, and your videos in general, have really helped me ensure that I keep my hopes for Korea in perspective. I am coming to teach general music and choir at an international school in Seoul. Music Education is my passion and what I got my degree in. I am so excited but nervous right now. I've been watching your videos for a good minute now. I appreciate how honest you have been! It's helped me objectively see both good and bad sides of Korea from the perspective of someone who isn't necessarily having the time of their life and wanting to stay for 10 more years. So here are the feels. I'm hoping for growth. Growth as a teacher, a music educator, growth as a person, growth as a friend, growth spiritually.. Just growth in every aspect possible. I want to learn to speak Korean fluently. I have always had an interest in languages and Korean is a really great one to start with. I hope that Korean isn't my only second language, but a kind of gateway drug that will lead me into others. I want to learn to care less about what people think. That has always been one of my downfalls. In a country where it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to fade into the background all the time, I hope I will gain a better, more confident sense of self. I want to become a better human, by learning how other humans enjoy humanity in a way different from mine.... I think... I hope that makes sense. I want to make friends. I'm nervous about not having anyone except my cat and co-workers. Oh and I REALLY want to have fun. Even if I don't end up staying for more than a year, I'm hoping to have an amazing time that I'll still be talking about when I'm 90. I've met an older lady who went to Korea in her 20s and she's 70 now! She says she misses Korea all the time and references her adventures there basically daily. I want an experience like that! I also hope to come in contact with some black hair products in Seoul. There's apparently a black hair store in the city and a couple online resources. My suitcases are pushing the limits right now..... Thanks for this video! It was good to write all my thoughts out! Sorry about the length lol.

+naarahformusic girl don't apologize for the length. I LOVE THIS COMMENT! your goals sound realistic and attainable. The fact that you're not a typical English teacher and you're doing something that fulfills you on a deeper level will TOTALLY affect your experiences. Join Blacks in South Korea fb group- there's a TON of folks in seoul- also they have regional groups for seoul. You can meet friends in your area. Korea has changed COMPLETELY from 50 years ago. Literally it's undergone unprecedented economic and societal changes. Also - NO SHADE - to the black hair care store you referenced but it's Korean owned and frankly doesn't really sell a lot to actually GROW black hair. It's attempting to be your typical hair store back home, so a ton of weave and a bunch of stuff I'd never let touch my scalp. There's a few online retailers (black owned) of hair products. The one I like is "honey hair" her URL is naturalbeautykorea.com I think and she has a physical store in pyeongtaek outside of Seoul. I like her and I get my orders in 2-3 days from when I order online.

Wow. I still cannot express my feelings with words. But what I can say is that just from watching these last couple of videos you've been able to fill some pieces that where missing from my life puzzle. I've been subscribed to you for awhile but never watched any of your videos and you have now become one of my favorite youtubers. Thank you for existing and I really hope you continue recording your traveling journey.

i love how real you are about your feelings and opinions regardless of how others might perceive. Some of videos i have watched or blogs i have read about living in korea have sugar coating in them but don't do that. i like that about your channel.

i really enjoyed this video. and i am kind of the same way...i used to cut people so quickly mostly because i had a low tolerance for bullsh*t ...but now ive been trying to be more open to people and all that. and travelling is a very fun experience. .it teaches a lot about yourself and you learn a lot about different types of people

I loved this video. I just had a running marathon through your videos and there's so much I want to say! - In terms of Korea/ living in Korea/ teaching in Korea I do feel it's a hit or miss type of situation, what I see with a lot of people that go to teach they either love it or hate it, and of course that's to do with their location, co teachers etc - I am hoping to teach english in South Korea after I finish university (two more years) but am unsure of whether I should visit in the summer with friends before I go and if that would prepare me in any way for moving there solo. I really enjoyed your teaching in Spain videos and that was also on my list along with Italy ( just not sure where to begin ) but hearing you experiences really do help give me some kind of insight. I love that you discuss things you DON'T like, there's nothing more frustrating than people only listing the positive things they experience/ appreciate about living abroad. - Also the 'english speakers are jerks video' had me clapping for 6min straight. no joke. I had actually discussed this with my old teacher at school who had taught in Busan about 3/4 years ago and she basically witnessed the exact same thing. I really hope I don't encounter anything like that when I get to Korea because I will 100% get into a physical altercation in front of my entire class and not regret it. Sorry for the ass long message!
