Its Crazy how they use to prepare for WM matches. They would put in place storylines that built up to anticipated matches. We had no idea after Kane helped Vince bury Taker that Taker would come back as the Deadman and have a match at WM20. The bulid up was so damn good. The theme by Limp Bizkit represented the end of an Era and the beginning of new chapters for WWE Superstars. I feel it for many reasons. Undertaker wrestled his last match as the American Badass. Stone Cold Steve Austin bids farewell as Co-GM of Raw to the rising popularity of new talent making their ascension to become bigger and iconic stars as John Cena, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and Randy Orton. However we can't leave out Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. These two behemoths locked eyes backstage that night which planted the seeds for their confrontation leading to the events over the course of 4 months at WrestleMania XX and Survivor Series 2016 followed by WrestleMania 33. Veteran superstars / future Hall of Famers as Triple H, Kane, Bradshaw, Dudley Boyz, Shawn Michaels. Booker T, Mark Henry, Lita and Molly Holly went on to become household names and legends in the business for a number of years and these names have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. What a time to be a fan. Survivor Series 2003 became the night where rising superstars become future legends.

I understand if people say awful things about him but for newer wrestling fans, not a lot of them will realize how great Benoit was as a wrestler or how beloved he was before when did it. If he hadn’t done what he did, he would’ve been worshiped just as much as Eddie and Angle or maybe even more as the greatest ever. He was highly respected among the industry’s best wrestlers but his personal demons and mental problems got to him.

Why Smackdown 2003 was so good.
@tombstone42902 жыл бұрын
That year was so awesome. For a 13 year old kid coming home from school watching SmackDown! on Thursdays on UPN and ppvs on Sundays got me glued to my old Sony/Panasonic box-like TV and never miss every bit of it. Talking wrestling at school, the gossip was the talk of the town, reading SmackDown magazines it was the coolest time ever. I love to do it all over again in a heartbeat.

2003 was WWE gold! SS 03 was the start of the road to Wrestlemania 20. Went downhill after that. But one of my favorite SS’s. 2002’s SS was gold too.

people overlook shane mcmahon, he never had to do all those tunts, but he did, born to vince, shane did all things to prove he deserves the respect, vince never gave him or steph the position easily, they worked their way up. kudos to vince for growing such great kids.

I was at SS 2003 in Dallas. Was a senior in high school and it was a fun time to be a pro wrestling fan. That show was SUPER hype! Hasn't been a hype show like that in Dallas since (2000 had a hype RAW with a 10-man tag [HHH, X-Pac, Benoit, Malenko, Saturn vs. Too Cool & Rikishi, Rock, Mankind]). The Smackdown side was WAY MORE HYPE than the RAW side and for good reason. Seeing Cena FU The Big Show was a BIG DEAL back then because we have NEVER seen Show get manhandled like that! I love this video essay! It took me back to my late teens and it was good to go back for a little while! Keep making more like this!

This is The Best or Underrated Survivor Series of All Time. Man I loved 2003. One of jeffy's favorite year along with 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008. Survivor Series is very underrated of the 2000's and the 2010's.

I think the reason why this and 2003 as a whole isn’t really talked about as much is because of Chris Benoit.
