A contemporary New York City revisioning of the Henry James novella by the same name starring Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgård and Steve Coogan, WHAT MAISIE KNEW is a touching comedic drama set against the chaos and complexity of modern marriage and family.
#WhatMaisieKnew revolves around unwitting 7-year-old Maisie (introducing Onata Aprile), caught in the middle of a custody battle between her mother Suzanna (Moore), an aging rock star, and her father, Beale (Coogan), a major art dealer.
In a race to win the court's advantage, Beale marries Maisie's nanny Margo (Joanna Vanderham), prompting Suzanna in turn to marry friend and local bartender, Lincoln (Skarsgård). As Maisie is shuttled back and forth between her parents, she comes to rely more and more on her parents' new spouses, who begin to see how selfish and damaged Maisie's parents really are.

This trailer gives me goosebumps just watching it. I kind of agree with that critic, who talked about Maisie being remarkable at acting, at her age. She was remarkable, and adorable. This whole film is pretty underrated, and the movie is really realistic, and sad and touching. I recommend people to have a heart, and give this movie a chance.

the ending i didn't like as it was too neat. In the novel after some time has passed Maisie is a little older and her foster parents are having relationship troubles and she cant decide to stay with them or her nanny and eventually she realises her foster parents relationship will end up the same way as her parents and so in the ends decides to stay with her nanny i wish they kept that in the end as mrs wix was underused

@@sexydudeuk2172 I think that too much for one movie… I mean that’s at least another 45 minutes. But I don’t mean the time so much I mean emotional roller coaster.

@@JohnnyArtPavlou well I prefer a movie to be as close as possible to the novel plus it gives a more sense of realism and a not so happy ending for maisy

Man I love this movie so much. I have never resonated with a character more than I do with Maisie. This was my exact childhood. I was an only child, my parents and i were very well off but that’s because they worked all of the time. They were successful in their jobs so they travelled a lot and even vacationed sometimes without me. Just like Maisie, they loved me a lot but they hated each other so I was constantly weaponized by them against each other and most of the time I was always with my nanny. 10/10 movie had me in tears.

Maisie is an awesome child. Her parents are idiots who are extremely self-absorbed. The young step-parents treat Maisie way better. As I'm watching, I am rooting for the step-parents to get into a relationship. Although it's very unlikely, I wish the step-parents could get custody of Maisie as the biological parents don't deserve this beautiful, smart, resilient little girl.

This movie must hit hard for the parents out there, or the kids of narcissistic parents or divorced parents out there. Masie’s story is not unique, there are plenty of kids like her out there. God, was it a hard movie to watch. And my parents have been happily married and thankfully are not narcissists.
