Hiya, 'Zook, great video! I would add one "feature" which is so basic I can't believe it still gets left out by most manufacturers: the sensor(s) must still register hits while pointed directly into the sun! Combined with the ability to take hits from (nearly) 360 degrees are real biggies in my book, but also understandable why they get left out of so many "toy grade" systems -- they do add a significant cost as well as presenting certain supply logistics issues. But not taking hits while firing is unjustifiable in my book. The price differential is minimal (literally a couple of cents) and if planned for in advance might add a day or two to the development time...

Thanks for the comment! Of the dozens of systems I’ve used over the years, the ones you’ve had a hand in are still my favorite. They really are a fantastic blend of performance and features at an affordable price. It’s just a shame to see the offerings take a step back from that. It’s hard to build a following around other systems and their shortcomings.

Balanced gameplay is a major factor. I like the fact that the LTTO, LTX, LTAR gave you the ability to go beyond the basic 10/25 hit free for all game. The built in teams function on the LTX/LTTO was nice as well.

those were the best taggers produced that I've played with as well, for the low cost toys at least (excluding our SwapTx creations that are not on big box store shelves yet).

Back when all the systems were on shelfs, I bought both Nerf and Laser X. Half of the Alphapoint's were faulty. I just tested a Laser X Micro and Long Range, they can shoot and be shot while the firing and/or hit lights/sounds sequence is playing.

That’s strange. The 6 AlphaPoint pistols I purchased still work today. And neither of my Laser X products work like yours do. There are several types of Laser X products out there. Do they all work differently?

Now I even dug out the original standard blasters like you have, mine are able to take receive and give out hits while the animations are playing, granted the lights and sounds will continue playing the original animation I recently got some of the newer ones where the receiver is built into the blaster, no tether no chest piece, going to see how that works out The chest/arm peices can be mounted to a mask, so at least your one-and-only receiver is on the head, still can't be hit from behind but still better than chest as far as obstructions go.

I found what you mean though, they can't take and receive hits literally in the same moment if you just so happen to be perfectly synchronized with your opponent, the animation however does not block new signals

Hello there. I’m kind of mixed. One good thing about laser X, is that it beeps. I know! The beeping is so annoying! It actually is helpful to me, as it allows me to be able to play laser tag at all, due to blindness. However, there were some very valid points in this video. I would recommend going with the armogear laser tag system. These blasters are now rechargeable, and can last up to two hours, before being recharged again. I have had a lot of fun with that systems. That is probably my favorite system. I like the fact that you’re not being forced to have a cord during the game. The other awesome thing about this system, is that the blaster itself has a built-in receiver. You don’t have to use the vests that come with it.

Good video. LOP is not able to send and receive hits at the same time however. The deltapoint masks this a bit with the burst fire timing, but it is apparent on the alphapoints. I think the reason that laserx lives on is that it was just a bit cheaper than the others. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles don't really care if these things do anything beyond work for the two weeks the kids are interested in them, so even a difference of $5 would swing the decision. On the same token, there is really no incentive for these toy companies to do anything more than make it blink colored lights and "work". They need it to sell, nothing else.

Yes you are correct. Laser op pro can't handle 2 things at the same time, much like LASERX : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipOZYZaDgc-KrpI

@@martijnsymaeys actually, you can be hit at the same time as firing, what you can't do tho, is have 2 people shoot each other at the exact same time. This promotes people taking cover and being more tactful instead of just trading hits

@@martijnsymaeys what is shown in the video you attached is two blasters that would each other because they're right next to each other, which means they cancel each other out if that makes sense

@@luketanton4056 yes that is correct, but watch the whole video, Laser ops pro can't shoot while being shot. Also look at this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHzQf5-PeM5sm9k , same conclusion

Stocking up on used Nerf Laser Ops Delta strike rifles to add vesting and wifi from Recoil laser tag systems. Making a 10 on 10 setup. Probably going to go raspberry pi zero to change up gaming, use old QZar software to run them with different game modes. Creality C 30 3D printer to fabricate needed parts. Nerf and Recoil dropped the ball here, time to pick it up and put them to good use.

Still a fan of the LTTO TMB it's hard to believe that today's taggers are so dumbed down ,I live in the land down under and it's hard finding them here but worth everycent I pay for them ,currently have close to 40 taggers from the deluxe to the ltars ,favourite is the tmb have 13 ready for fun 11 working missiles and 6 bnib , on my tmb's I cut off end of pumping handle and install a ctr stock much (airsoft style )nicer feel and easier to aim , but I think first time players should not try the laser x as it's just rubbish ,ps glad you jumped back in to the cool pool keep up the content

Great info, thx. Loved your review of the BRX system but cannot justify the cost to play with my 6 & 8 yo kids, much less my 4 yo. Especially after it was mentioned in that video that it would be sketchy for an 8 yo yo handle and not break it by treating it roughly. Which inexpensive system is the best that meets most if not all of your tips in this video? Nerf LTX, Alphapoint, maybe the new Laser Strike, or other? Keep up the great work!

The interim Lazer Tag gear from the mid 90's (Stinger, B.L.A.S.T.) would also be invincible while firing.

Hey there. Awesome video. Have you looked at the recently released Nerf laser strike blasters? I am about to purchase some, and do a review on them. Just thought you out to know that they are out there. They can be purchased from target. They can also be purchased from Walmart as well.

The only way I can test blasters is if someone either provides them for me or if I go out and purchase one. I have plenty of laser tag systems already (LTTO, LTX, multiple versions of Laser Challenge, ReCoil, LaserX, LTAR, etc) and don't really have a desire to purchase more.

Those LaserX really make my blood boil, they hurt the perceived image of this hobby and taint it for new players by giving such a horrible experience by today's standards.

Anyone know what the range of Nerf Alphapoint Laser Ops is outdoors and when there is sunlight, like 20 metres or so?

Should be getting at least 120 feet with the Alphapoint or Delta Burst, since they use the same lens arrangement. Works out to be about 36 meters.
