I really don't get why video game actors don't get roles in movies, they clearly got the skill, for example why are they casting Josh Brolin as Joel in TLOU. Just use Troy Baker, Joel was literally modeled after him and he's the voice actor, he's also in the same age, just make him gain a bit of weight and you're good to go. And why did they use Tom Holland for Uncharted instead of Nathan Fillion? I just don't get Hollywood
@solen55292 жыл бұрын
Because not every voice actor can act/want to act same way most actors can't voice act, I'm guessing most voice actor's can't act since there are multiple different variables to those 2 types of acting and who do you think is gonna do better in a movie? a voice actor or a well trained actor who specializes in that specific kind of acting? it's not as simple as "well why don't they get the og voice actors to act in the movie" lmao

@@solen5529 you do know that voice acter are not always just voice actors. @Don_Master832 жыл бұрын
@@solen5529 RDR2 was like 85% mocap. The actors always try to make a point of that when people say it was just voice acting. As that diminishes the hard work they put into it. TLOU 1&2 were mocap as well and I think some or most of RDR1 was too. They’re acting just as much as an actor in a film or show. As Roger Clark put it, it’s like theater in the round, because the camera can be anywhere, and they’re doing the scenes mostly in one take. So it’s much like doing theater, except they’re in mocap suits and they have to imagine they’re surroundings and everything. The stuff they do in the booth is kinda no different than actors having to do ADR.

Men who perhaps wanted to do good. *Did* do good, depending on player choice. But the unfortunate circumstances that surrounded them, the hand they were dealt, as you put it, prevented them from breaking out of that shell. But they still did the best they could with what they had. Did what they had to do to survive, and to take care of the people they loved. Wouldn't any of us do the same, if life gave us the same terms? We are all human, and I think that's what made Arthur such an amazing character. He was human, too. I couldn't even play it for like 3 days after that, then I restarted to make sure I had high honor this time. I cried when he died. I didn't know a video game could make me so emotional over a character's death, but this one did.

The most impressive thing with Arthur Morgan's writing is how it interacts with the honor system and player choices. Whether he's gunning down a town of people, handing out money to the destitute, or helping some nutcase he just met retrieve a macguffin from their old home, he always feels like the same person at the end of the day. Something like that isn't easy

What I like about RDR2 is that while the choices in the game don't affect the story much, they can enhance it in a major way. You can keep Arthur's honor low before he gets TB, and after that you can make high honor choices, giving more depth to his redemption arc.

I have to say that the only issue I have with this video is saying that the failing point of Andromeda wasn't that we were not playing as Shepard. As Shepard's story has ended. Having Shepard still be played afterwards just doesn't make sense from the scale and ramp up of the original trilogy. Andromeda failed for almost over a dozen reasons. But Ryder wasn't one of them.

@@deacon6221 I agree. Niko is is also well written , deep and badass but he's a more ruthless than Arthur. Arthur Morgan is the perfect example of Redemption he starts off as a villain but then little by little he starts to change his ideology and realize that what he's doing isn't right and when he got Tuberculosis that was the turning point in his life and the moment he realized "This is the end and I need to fix my mistakes as much as I can" and he knew he had to get John and the others out of that life before it was too late he is the best protagonist I've played as he wasn't a copy of John Wayne (thank God) but he wasn't exactly a copy of Clint Eastwood or even a copy of John Marston, he was just Arthur Morgan a Legend of the West

It wasn't really that Andromeda ditched Shepard and our galaxy, it was that the new characters weren't really interesting, the story is kinda hard to follow, some ME alien species aren't in the game ie Quarians, faces are plastic and emotionless, some lore was changed for twitter likes, the bugs, and for some a dev being flippantly racist towards fans. Every time I try to continue my save the only I thing really care about is the character Vetra, and I have no real clue what the story focus is. Meanwhile I can get hit in the feels just from a simple look from Author and can't bring myself to do a low honor play through. Even the left right eye movement with a dumbfounded look when you're doing the pig farm thing and the brother and sister are flirting infront of Author makes him such a human character

Im on my third playthrough now and on my first two playthroughs i was a good guy. In the first playthrough i didnt really do any stranger missions so he didnt really seem to change that much. That together with the fact that i played as a good guy the entier time. In the second one i was a worse person in the begining, but i became a better one in the end. And i did more side missions so i got the complete "good" ending. During this playthrough im gonna start out as an anti hero and im gonna turn into a full villain by the end. I will start out by doing it all for the gang, but i will gradualy do more stuff for myself. And in the end i will make one final good choice to help John.
@dementiahotel2 жыл бұрын
the thing I find fascinating about arthur is how he amazingly represents freedom or just the want to be free. I believe it's when him and hosea go to hunt the bear they discuss leaving the gang and Arthur says he doesn't want to leave despite how long he's been apart of it. I believe he's always wanted to leave but couldn't due to the consequences. Another thing is while yes a horrible person. Murderer, low life, really the worse thing a human could be, he still shows the want to be a good person. I find this most obvious through the honor bar. Yet I find that mechanic (in terms of the story) useless as his label is "outlaw" once you have that label its impossible to redeem yourself. Impossible to be a good person, one of his many wants. This is messy and probably doesnt make sense but thank you for reading this if you did (I wrote this as the video played I apologize if any of these points were mentioned)
@originata37482 жыл бұрын
I think the video ironically details why Arthur is a messy character, not complex. He has a bunch of conflicting character traits and is able to morph into whatever the story needs him to. Maybe the perfect video game anti hero. He wouldn't work well as is in other types of stories in my opinion because it would be more obvious.
@artbyatticus30012 жыл бұрын
I feel like the point of him is that he’s messy. He has a bunch of conflicting character traits that help to strengthen his character. He’s able to do violent and threatening things with such ease due to the fact that he’s grown up threatening and robbing people so he’s just extremely proficient at it. However, at heart he was originally a good person and is still capable of being good. You do have a point that part of the reason they made him like this is so he could fit better into the story but he is still a complex character (in my opinion).
@John-9962 жыл бұрын
Most people are messy People are complex and dont just act in one way really depends on the situation Arthur is really complex Chracter, Dutch even more so.
@originata37482 жыл бұрын
Arthur's "messy" not because he isn't perfect (though he nearly IS) but more messily created. He's a frankenstein of a character and doesn't feel realistic. It's a larger issue of the game so it's not just him. It's easy to not be concerned with this as you're playing as the character and the game overloads you with inconsequential decisions and emotional cut scenes. As I said, he wouldn't work well in other types of stories where we'd do more observing instead of participating.
@artbyatticus30012 жыл бұрын
@@originata3748 Well, like you said, that is your opinion. I disagree with that for my own reasons as I have played the game a certain way the whole way through thus making him a consistent and progressive character. Even then, when you read his in-game journal and observe his gradual development over the story he is still a very well written character. You don’t have to agree with me. Have a good day/night.
