I grew up in Bentonville near Coler. The creeks were our playground. I was into mountain biking around 20 years ago. There were basically no trails. I had to drive an hour and a half to ride trails. Now my 7 year old is getting into mountain biking, so I’m getting back into it. And it’s really amazing what we have in the area now. I’m about to take my son on his first dirt trail today.

I had a similar experience in Tulsa, although much smaller. There has been trails on a 300’ bluff for at least a century(lots of carvings in the sandstone from the 1920s and later. I rode there in the early 00’s and saw maybe 1 or 2 other riders/hikers/even the occasional horse. Now they have added infrastructure (bathrooms shelters, etc) and made many improvements on the old worn out trails. I used to volunteer for trail maintenance since it was a mile from me and I spent so much time there. Actually moved to those apartments for easy access to the trails. We ( just a community focus group of 7 or so people who got together) even proposed to Progressive Trail Designs and they gave us pointers, but they were obviously understandably busy with their client in Bentonville around 2012. People always talked about riding Slaughter Pen and Hobbs back then. It sounded amazing to me. I did ride Wimbledon down south and Leatherwood in those times though. I’m actually camping here as we speak 10/31, and I want to ride Coler most of all. I’m .5 miles from a Back 40 trailhead, and 1 mile from a Slaughter Pen lot. So many choices! I know it’s going to be an awesome weekend. Sorry for the rambling, just excited for adventure here tomorrow morning!

Wow I spent years of my youth in NWA and it wasn't exactly cycle friendly! Not that there were a tonne of riders around, In the late 90's early 00's I can remember riding laps of the Lake in Fayetteville and not seeing another rider. And now that I live 7000 miles away it's all changed! What an amazing place now!!!

Big fan of your channel. I have a question that I’ve yet to see anyone cover. What bike is best for Bentonville? I’m undecided on whether to take my Ibis Ripmo (160/145) or Scott Spark RC Pro (120/120). I don’t want to over or under bike. Thanks
@GHStudiosNWA10 ай бұрын
You'd have fun on both. Ripmo if you want to session and hit everything in comfort and the downcountry bike if you want to cover miles.

Those vendors did not "choose" to be there, they were required to be there to do business with WM. Which greatly contributed to the economic growth of the area!!
@steveh71082 жыл бұрын
That's possible but I highly doubt it. They might have been approached and suggested that they might want to be there but the rest was up to them. There is other things that have nothing to do with Walmart that happened to be some of the biggest in the country. Like their National fishing tournaments or bikes blues and barbecue to name a few. People simply discovered that it is a great place to be and to hold events and it is growing because of that.
@tiagilbert92 жыл бұрын
@@steveh7108 I know people who work for the companies that are required to have a NWA presence. It is not uncommon in the corporate world and it is one way Walmart has helped transform that area. We had close friends who had to move to Bentonville who worked for a vendor. This is easy to research too.
