.IO is often used by tech companies because "IO" may refer to "Input/Output" as in BIOS (Basic Input/Output System)
@A0Newbie0A3 жыл бұрын
Diep.io is one of my favourite games, although it is not as popular as other i.o games I play it a lot. And zombs.io is pretty good too if you have teammates that actually know how to play the game and communicate, it was really fun when a party I joined in had actual roles you had to do to protect the base, I was the defender upgrading the walls and traps while others take care of resources, upgrading the gold stash and attacking the zombies. I was pretty fun. Also the more teammates you have the more towers you have to protect the base (if your teammate cooperates with you that is), I might be wrong though

Back in the day there was only Agario and every YTber was playing it, but like all gaming fads it eventually died out, so I was absolutely baffled when I got the email a year or two ago talking about a mega-bundle of .io games for charity. Now there's apparently THOUSANDS of those games, they're all mostly the same, all mostly dead, and anyone can just shit out a new game mode.. it's pretty much turned into the gmod of flash games

By far my favorite io game would have to be devast.io its kinda like minecraft where you have to build a house and plant food to survive and it does have mobs trying to kill you. But the bigger issue is always other players some are nice and others are down right evil. They'll place blocked in front of your house so you cant leave and wait for you to die and steal all your items. The game is crazy fun when you bring a group of friends in to try and own the server. But food is always an issue even with a farm going you always seems to run out of food cause someone forgot to play crops again. Mean someone has to go out at night and risk dying. Or maybe another gang of players sees how nice you guys have it and they launch an attack on the base while most of your team is out gathering leaving you alone to defend. I've made so many good memories playing this game and intend to make more soon!

there was a .IO game that i really liked playing before but i can't remember what it was called. it was a simple game where some people spawn into a world, and after a bit a few get mutated into zombies. you could push stuff around and there were also upgrades you could buy like baseball bats and pills that made you less likely to turn into a zombie. i really want to play this game again and would appreciate someone telling me what it's name was and where to find it.

Hey, I haven’t finished the video yet so maybe you’ve brought it up, but at the start you bring up that .io stands for Indian Ocean Territory and seem confused why tech companies use it. The reason they use it is because IO is also short for Input/Output, or I/O.

Agar.io is basically battle royale (in a boarder sense) but with winning condition removed and there's no time limit per game. Traditionally (before 2010) battle royale web game are all based on, well, a game called Battle Royale, where the whole server only host 1 game that unless you are way too late, you can just join mid-game. And because actions are "command based" (you don't know what happened until you use any command), there's virtually no limit to how many players can join the same game. But then, maybe one downside of traditional BR is that things are just way too complicated, and it takes a minimum amount of players to start a game, while agar.io made it so it can be single player and there's not much complicated mechanics in the game. It's basically where non-account-based multiplayer web game peaked. And after that, before long it would face the same issue of all web based multiplayer games, that is, you got to have players around to have a reasonable game. I would predict that the future of webgame is about asynchronous multiplayer games. Many people had, and are having fun watching videos with danmaku turned on, so it should be logical that some game would make use of similar concept. Blockchain collect-a-thon comes close to such concept, but there's not really any gameplay at all, and the concept of blockchain itself has its own set of issues. Maybe one day, then.

great video, but.... okay jokes aside It's nice to see IO games being mentioned in 2020. I am someone who spend way too much time playing and looking into IO games. as such there are a few things where you have missed details or overlooked aspects. like you mentioned a lot of IO games are merely you vs. bots, and that hole thing leads you down a rabbithole of modern mobile game practices and stolen ideas for a quick buck on the mobile game market. it's a topic close to IO games as they have started the whole concept.

These, like incremental games are stripped down games optimizing for a specific style of mechanic. Where incremental games focus almost solely on addressing progression systems these are about competition systems. The whole nature of these are exploring the range of the individual foundational mechanics of games (interactive experiences) much like the process of making minimal art is exploring the range of the individual foundational mechanics of the visual experience. Minimal Games all together. I/O kind of refers to interaction (communication) and networking, it might actually be fitting to call these IO games coincidentally. Perhaps drop the preceding 'dot' though.

Commenting for algorithm. Just kidding. I've loved .io games since they came out. The less popular ones definitely have fake multiplayer. I'm pretty sure Diep.io is pronounced "deep io", referencing its complexity and levelup system compared to other io games. Splix.io was one of the first territory io games. Braains.io is one of the better multiplayer ones. Games last 2 minutes, one team is the zombies and one team is the human survivors. It comes complete with a bunch of weapons for the humans to pick up and destructible environment objects like dressers and stuff to block doors. It's pretty good.
