Suresh Gopi ❤️ has to be the best KBC host after Big B himself. The fact that the man has gone out of the way by helping the contestants even when they don't make much through the show and his philanthropic activities off screen and his larger than life on screen presence are all reasons for this. It's ironic how even SG himself went through a phase of financial difficulty sometime in the early 2000s like mr bachchan when he decided to step away from doing action roles that promote violence and a thankless industry deserted him.

Just a few days back, I accidentally watched some recent KBC clips and after that ended watching whole episode.. brought back a lot of memories and I'll say It's the Amitabh Bachchan's persona and the simple presentation that is the charm of this show.

I read that once Big B was not available for a season of KBC. So, SRK had hosted but the TRP of the show fell terribly, so they had to get Big B back. KBC is synonymous with Amitabh Bachchan among Hindi speakers. And I agree with your points.

Is it just fishy ......that in the recent seasons KBC has become a vehicle for social upliftment more than a vehicle for true meritocracy? We often see people who come from challenging backgrounds (socio-economic/education or else) being asked relatively easier Questions and more or less from their fields .... But a tougher grade of Questions who come from comfortable Backgrounds....... However it is still a great show and gives due respect to knowledge rather than the trashy reality shows we have otherwise in TV

Also we never know when someone from today's middle class might become a unicorn tomorrow soaring high..... Every individual if they have reached somewhere respectable and have maintained or enhanced their position ....is an indicator of their hardwork/dedication/struggles and hence -their success. Also the initial flight might be from the prize money here..... 😁

But the disparity in Questions to people from such backgrounds and the ones who come from comfortable Backgrounds is the issue. Which is exactly why KBC has been under fire from many comedic fronts where all you need to do Is pose a sad story and you will make it big on the platform!!!! And how is it possible that almost all of the contestants nowadays win atleast a few lakhs and leave?(especially if u have a sad story?) When the same wasn't the case in the initial seasons.... That is my point:)

Some information are incorrect , it was miss world contest and not mrs world. Also, the jalsa bungalow was gifted to him by producer of sate pe Satta as his fees. So Amitabh Bachchan basically owned two bungalows both in Juhu Prateeksha and Jalsa before he became bankrupt. Also, his prateeksha bunglow was attached by Canara Bank. After kbc, he want on to buy two more bungalows in Juhu, Janak which primarily he use it as office and one more bunglow next to Jalsa which once was Citibank and is currently rented to SBI. He also own a flat at Carter road Bandra and one more bungalow in Juhu. Total 5 bungalows.

Most Indian Reality TV shows are nothing but Poverty Porn. I remember when Britain Got Talent followed the same strategy and faced massive backlash.
