Never think Cold War is boring. But then again I am 33.

Spy and family reminds me of the althistory of a divided Japan between a Soviet east and an American west
@camillesharem Жыл бұрын
That works, too! Strange, horrible fact, but that was part of the calculation in using the nukes at the end of WW2. It was partly done to prevent a full invasion of Japan by the Soviet Union after the US saw them gobbling up Eastern Europe. Poor Twilight... The guy's already been through enough!
@GwainSagaFanChannel Жыл бұрын
@@camillesharem as a history geek I am glad you know this unknown fact this indeed is in part why the nukes are used and also on part because the soviets invaded sakhalin and americans feared it would launch full scale invasion of the main islands
@camillesharem Жыл бұрын
@@GwainSagaFanChannel Oh yeah! I loved teaching this fact to my students back in the day. The topic of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki will always make social movement-conscientious teens very uncomfortable, but when you explain the larger picture, horrible decisions start making more sense. There's definitely some great discussions to have around the close of WW2, what was done right and was what done wrong, and it helps to know as much of nuance as possible. It helps kids to realize that it's not all black and white, and that the moral grey exists for a reason and not just in a vacuum.

Huh, how very interesting, truly sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction, honestly this is one of my favorite Aspects of the Series and will look forward to see how things will go with it, I wonder if Anya’s Past will ever play a Major at some point? Anyway, I will look forward to see your next Spy x Family Videos.
@camillesharem Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Anya's past will definitely be its own major arc in the future. It's already been referenced by Wise at least twice in passing. They know that Ostania conducted severe human experiments, but they don't know to what end. Since no one from the West can figure out anything about it, that means that the East and some participants in the program are still at large and very relevant.
@johanstenfelt1206 Жыл бұрын
@@camillesharem hehe, very true, that will be interesting regardless. Though, what if the Organization behind Anya, was made up out of people from both the West and the East?

I noticed this in the show drawing comparisons between the anime and the cold war and WW1 and WW2 and I really enjoyed the historical contexts in the show. This video was really nicely made and informative!!

Great video Lars! Loved how you tied the histocial context (which was facinating on its own!) into how to be a better writer. I haven't even watched this show, but I want to now!

Thanks! The show is absolutely worth watching and the manga definitely leans more into the Cold War aesthetic when it switches from family fun to spy and assassin dealings.

I've been trying to learn more about the cold war, east and west Germany and how they're related to Spyxfamily but those histories are often too hard for me .Still trying to understand more about them. Thanks for explaining them in a simple way

You're welcome! It was a blast to dust off my history degrees and draw the connections between Spy x Family and real life events. It's something that would be fun to do again, especially as we keep going further into the story.
