I think the only reason Star Wars has stayed popular for so long is because it’s been clinging to the glory of the Star Wars Holiday Special

A. K. A. the most underrated and the best movie of all the time! We need a re-release of this movie. We need a Lucas cut. We need to find it every corner of tgecplanet. We need posters with this movie instead of icons in churches.

Sadly most of us Vietnamese are not Star Wars fans, not just because the reason that The Last Hope released 2 years after Vietnam War ends and Vietnamese were rebuilding the country but also because: 1, While USA is enjoying Star Wars because they were sci-fi geeks, the Vietnamese binge on a bunch of Chinese TV series such as Journey To The West, Justice Pao, All Men Are Brothers, etc because we were Chinese medieval monks and ancient dragon temple power geeks 2, When cinema starts popping up in Vietnam, we binge on a bunch of high CG movies such as Harry Potter FIRST, then we watch The Last Hope, Empire Strikes Back and dislike the CG of it. 3, We watch Star Wars like skipping the first 100 pages of a book. Watching sequels instead of prequels and misunderstand a lot of the story. Then give it a bad review.

I think a huge reason I didn't care for the trilogy series is because Star Wars, Disney or whatever you want to point the finger at got away from character writing.. I've thought and that for years now I think y'all touched on it well. Mando is written well because it's character driven rather than just flashy or big budget or shoehorning messaging... It also helps that there was a plan with Mando.

It is the ultimate hero story, with anakin he is the hero you relate to the most, you relate on an unholy level to his struggles, his frustrations, his mistakes. And then luke is the ultimate hero, the one we all want to be, caring, kind compassionate and unwavering to the power of love. And it tells a story of warning that gels perfectly with the political landscape of america even to this day, and to the internal conflict within all of us.

LOVED the ships and scifi tech used by the show...it's one of the best things about SW, and one of the most important aspects about scifi in general. It illustrates how fertile the content creator's imagination is while creating the franchise. That said I also loved the overall cultures SW created too. The jedi/sith dynamics, the republics old and new, just even how ordinary people dealt with life in that galaxy. Not to mention their currency doesn't sound half as bad and worthless as ours is.

I think what makes Star Wars special is that no matter what trilogy or spinoff is your favorite, there is something for everybody to enjoy! If someone likes the classic space story? Give them the Original Trilogy. Someone likes a political type/betrayal trilogy? Give them the prequels. Someone wants a mix of both while adding some new stuff (for better or worse)? Give them the sequels. While Star Wars fans often complain about very weird or even stupid things, there is no denying that Star Wars means something to everyone and those meanings change from person to person. I personally love every trilogy for different reasons and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Whatever trilogy is your favorite, never let anyone say you're dumb for having that opinion. May the force be with you all!

Star Wars endured because it brought back archetypes in an age of gritty cowboys and morally grey cops. It helped that Lucas was an actual geek and not a hollywood type, and got some competent folks for sound and prop design. The eastern influence with the philosophy and jedi was going to be put into a story eventually since the 1960s cultural revolution happened. That covers it.

A think that I really like about Rey is that she really feels like an in-universe Star Wars fan. She grew up with a lot of stories about the Jedi, the Sith, the wars, the everything. And in her jurney through out the galaxy we see her using all she knows about this world to fight villains. We see her enthusiasm and nervousness when she meets her heroes and visiting new planets. We see her disappointment when not all she knew was how she expected to be. Out of all of Star Wars characters in movies, Rey is the biggest Star Wars fan. She is like us. Rey is us!

Don't propagate the wrong headed thought that a strong female don't need no man, as if Star Wars has that message. Leia was a strong person but she needed rescuing more than once, as it turned out, by men. The story was about remarkable people doing amazing things, and helping each other. "Strong independent woman who don't need no man" is contrary to that consistent message. Luke needed help, Han and Lando needed help; they were all strong but at some point they all needed help.

SW parallels Christianity so well, but in a fictitious way, and I think that is what draws so many into it. People are looking for Jesus, but don't even realize it. This goes for the original trilogy anyway. God can use people to further His cause, without them even knowing it, and I feel that is what happened to GL. I feel like I became a Christian because of SW. In fact I was gonna write a book about it... There was a book written back in the day called 'The Force' by Frank Allnut, before ESB, and ROTJ releases, and I feel that book explains it very well. I would like to expand on it since that was written to include the other 2 original movies. That's what I think makes SW so special too so many people.

The prequels were designed for a younger generational paradigm and though it way have appealed to some of that generation it was far from transcendent cinema and could not manage to hold space for a dignified Jedi/force narrative. The prequels missed out on massive opportunities to really deliver on the same exact plot with more careful story telling craft. *I personally felt like the prequels should have been aimed at an audience that was in their 20'a and up. That's who made Lucas rich and that's who it all ment the most to. Instead they made a mediocre batch of movies for a demographic that obviously would have never know what they were missing out on. lol

Personally, the only thing I care about Star Wars for is the droids. Especially the battle droids from the Prequels. I loved the concept of these intelligent machines with cool personalities. And the idea of these war robots of unique shapes and sizes. I never cared for the characters, and therefore never cared for the original trilogy. Edit: I do not like Star Wars because it is endless wars in a galaxy that never changes. There is still slavery and giant crime organizations everywhere, even after tens of thousands of years. With negligent and corrupt govenments. And the galaxy has always been getting worse under the galaxy's and star wars fans' noses. Exact same reasons why I don't like the real world. Nothing actually changes, it's illusion of change. And to me, glorifying kids to become Jedi or Sith encourage this not just for Star Wars, but the real world. They will do nothing productive with their live in and outside of Star Wars. Star Wars just further encourages the sentiment of regression. People think that just doing one of many jobs in society, will assuredly, make society and the world better, which rarely works. You are actually helping society to destroy itself. You either need to pick specific jobs, and / or put your life on the line and maybe even use your entire lifespan, to make the world better.

To be fair though, while Leia and Padme both started out as strong kickass female characters, as their respective trilogies wore on they regressed into emotional support for the male characters more or less. And Padme was portrayed as the impetus for Anikan's fall to the Darkside, the old "female corruptive influence" trope going way back to Delilah and Sampson. I do think that the prequel era Jedi order's more messed up practices were accidentally great storytelling on GL's part, though he believes Anikan fell due to his own weakness in the face of lustful temptation. When looking at the subtext, however, the Jedi were in DESPERATE need of therapists. The entire Order.
@OtterTreySSArmy
@OtterTreySSArmy 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree on that point. Especially when you bring the Clone Wars into the fold. Padme being the focus of so many episodes shows that she's not just a badass, but also that she's a diplomat. Unlike say Anakin or Luke who almost always solves things with violence, Padme prefers to solve them with words first and only violence as a last resort. Leia takes kind of the opposite journey. Starting basically where her mother left off, she then has to resort to violence more often than not. But then episode 6 comes around, she's finally able to solve the problem through diplomacy rather than violence(she let's the Ewoks do the violence lmao).

First, let's talk about the convoluted mess that is the storyline. It's as if George Lucas took a handful of random ideas, threw them into a blender, and hit the "plot" button. From the mystical Force to the clunky political conflicts, it's a mishmash of half-baked concepts that somehow gained a cult following. And speaking of cult following, let's not forget the obsessive fan base that treats Star Wars like a sacred religion. Mention anything remotely critical about the franchise, and you'll be bombarded with lightsaber-wielding fanatics ready to defend their precious movies with the ferocity of a Wookiee. But let's not overlook the wooden acting and cringe-inducing dialogue. It's like the actors were trying their best to sound robotic and emotionless. And don't get me started on the infamous "I don't like sand" line. It's the epitome of cringe, and Anakin Skywalker's love story is about as believable as Jar Jar Binks becoming a Shakespearean actor. And what's up with the incessant merchandising? Star Wars has become the poster child for shameless commercialization. From action figures to bed sheets to lightsaber-shaped kitchen utensils, it's like they're trying to squeeze every credit out of fans' pockets faster than Han Solo can make the Kessel Run. So, if you're looking for a sci-fi franchise with well-developed characters, coherent storytelling, and acting that doesn't make you cringe, I suggest you steer clear of the Star Wars galaxy. It's an overhyped, overmarketed phenomenon that fails to live up to the hype for anyone with a discerning taste. May the disappointment be with you!
