What Makes The Supertech R10 So Special?

It looks like the main thing that makes this Alpinestars helmet so special is the marketing budget. I've never seen so many outlets try to foist a helmet on us before.

No doubt that Alpinestars is making a big push with this helmet, but it’s an all-new segment for them so that makes sense. We were one of two North American media outlets to attend the helmet launch and test the R10, further review coming soon. The hope here is to simply get information out there to help those who are shopping for a new lid. Hopefully they can understand the product better and make a decision on what to buy, be it any of the high-end roadracing helmets on the market.

Bought mine and I ride a sports tourer. I use the shorter spoiler on the back because I don't need the bump on the back of my jacket. And it still works perfectly. Works really well with a cardio packtalk edge as well.

What is the game changer ? All of the high end helmets have a good aerodynamic design, they all have plush interiors and are designed to a high standard for road/track use. I loved the look of the Arai and Schuberth helmets but couldn’t get one to fit my head like a Shoei. It will be pretty much down to the fit once you get up to the cost of a premium lid.

Good points about a lot of it coming down to fit. All of today’s high-end helmets are really good and you can find strong points in any of them. The R10 is more aerodynamic than some of those options and the ventilation is a step above most anything we’ve recently ridden in. But again, you’re right in that all of today’s premium helmets have something to offer.

They know what they are doing, they make shit for WAY higher caliber riders than you. Nothing much special about the helmet but it will sertainly withstand the speeds wou can lean on your Scooter.

Unfortunately in the last 5 years Arai's quality has gone very very sharply downhill. I have this helmet now and I'm on a sports Tourer and I can confidently say Arai should be squirming in their seat.

Hopefully there are some less expensive versions of the helmet down the road. Alpinestars took a similar approach with its motocross helmet lineup.

In the UK it is £850. I can buy a top of the range Arai or shoei for £650. I don't mind paying the extra £200 for this helmet. What price do you put on your brain?

Seems the fiber and layup process is very technical and advanced, but it's going to be made in China.

As I've said before, the parts are not made in China. The helmet is assembled in China. There's a massive difference
