Bear with me: I grew up on punk, but my older cousin was my access to having fun (drinking, smoking, and partying) when we were in school. He was a nu metal/post grunge guy and him and all his friends always brought me to the Xfest concerts where I would go just to get blunts and beer and maybe be around a girl (I was like 14). One year he and his friends were hyped for Three Doors Down, so they rolled about 10 blunts and bought enough beer to go around. All I knew about the band was this song, and I kept singing it to myself, in particular the chorus going into the bridge where he goes "YeEeEaAaAhHHh". Then the band came on, everyone was at the edge of their blankets. We were 9 blunts in and I was probably the highest I've ever been, it felt surreal. When Kryptonite came on I was so fixated on the singer, each chorus waiting for the Yeah, and every time it didn't come I would get more anxious. I looked around to see if anyone else was anticipating it as much as me, but they seemed fine. They sailed through the bridge without a year. It felt like a century had passed since they started playing. Just when I thought the song would go on forever without it, he delivered. And that is my 3 Doors Down story.

That additude sustained itself from the 80s to today and this is why rap is THE BIGGEST music genre by faaaaaaaar while metal is basically completely irrelevant, and rock is just "that old music" like jazz. Shit, look at some random... idk, UK drill song, then listen to something "older" from few years ago like Lil Peep or some screamo crap like SuicideBoys, then look at 00s ringtone rap, or chopped and screwed, 90s eastcoast classics vs westcoast g funk, 80s boom bap, rock rap... theyre all COMPLETELY different sounding.
