Hyperview came out when I was 21 and I didn't get it at the time. Now that I'm older it makes more sense, it has aged well. I think it's a masterpiece.
@shnorglebop1798 Жыл бұрын
I’m 21 now, I got into Title Fight in my senior year of high school. That was a little over 3 years ago now, I was like 18. I ended up learning about them after getting into a band called Remo Drive, and their earlier material was really influenced by Title Fight. I thought it was amazing, and after checking out Title Fight themselves, I was simply blown away. I never listened to something that felt so perfect. I was going through a lot at the time and I feel like I really did discover them at a time where I needed it. Their lyrics and sound really resonated with me in this way I couldn’t describe, and they continue to even today. I think the first song I ever heard by them was Head In The Ceiling Fan, and it just drew me in right away. They have quickly become one of if not my favorite band of all time next to the Beatles lol. I know this isn’t really relative to your comment but I just wanted to share, been listening to TF a ton lately and nobody I know is really into them the way I am so I got nobody to rant about them to lol. To add to what you were saying tho: I felt the same way about Hyperview when I first got into them. It was good, but I wasn’t crazy about it the way I was with their other stuff… I think I appreciate it a lot more now. I know a lot of people seem to see it as a departure from their usual sound, which it was, a lot less aggressive. But to me something about it seems very similar. Listening to Floral Green a lot (that’s probably my personal favorite) I honestly felt like Hyperview was a pretty natural progression. I could hear it a lot on HITCF and In-Between. Anyway that’s just my 2 cents lol. I’d be really interested to hear where they would take things if they ever got back together. They were really perfecting their “vibe” you might say. If you’re interested, there’s another really good band you should check out called Drug Church from upstate NY.
@BL-zi9wb Жыл бұрын
@@shnorglebop1798 Great comment, I agree with everything you said. FWIW I'm 30 now, I still enjoy TF's older material but it was more relevant to me at the age you are now. Feeling angst, not fitting in, figuring out life as a young man in a world that seemed infinite. Like the line in Sympathy, "I never wanted sympathy Just wanted to be something I just wanna be interesting." Hope you find your own path someday that makes sense for you. Also listen to Glitterer if you aren't already!

Floral Green will always be a favourite because 'Like A Ritual' really entered my life at a time I needed it. That being said, Hyperview was an incredibly made album which clearly takes influence from a whole array of other genres and executes it flawlessly. It really felt inspired by The Smiths and other bands from that era whilst maintaining the melancholic sound of today. I can't say there has been a track by them that I haven't liked and they continue to be my favourite artists across all the genres of music that I listen to!

I really enjoy(ed) title fights presence. They’re everything of musicians/a band that I aspire to be. They constantly change and evolve. That nostalgic sort of sound and confidence in self and their work is the most inspiring thing to me and the most relatable thing to me. I constantly feel change and revolution in what I work on as far as art, myself. I like that feeling and I like listening and learning about ppl who do the same. It’s good to not be tied down to one genre or sub genre of music bc you learn the most about doing what you love while also sort of learning how to be the best at your passion. Awesome stuff man.

thank you for making this video, im passionate cult follower of title fight lol and this was spot on. im a nerd for them and i will say musically title fight stands out completely and hyperview imo was them peaking as creative musicians. the depth to that album when listened to from a musician perspective reminds you that the simplicity and emptiness to a record is powerful. the strength of good sounding guitars/bass/drums, consistent sound and incredibly fine tuned production work is what they really honed in on for hyperview. the lack of genre/style layers compared to spring songs or floral green is in my opinion more enticing and very difficult to pull off musically

Nothing hits me in the chest like Title Fight. I grew up with them since I was 16, too, so I am biased in that regard. Yeah, there's Alex G, Neutral Milk Hotel, Jawbreaker and Modest Mouse, but Title Fight is the very cusp of angst without getting cringey. I don't know what the fuck it is about them, but Ned and Jaime posses this excellent lyricism. Sometimes I think Title Fight saved my life because I was really suicidal when I found Shed. I didn't know there was a community for people that wanted to let their anger out in a contained manner. Moreover, Title Fight really taps into the feelings of disconnect from society (I struggle with really immense disassociation) in songs like "Head in the Ceiling Fan" and "Where Am I?" Like, it's macabre somehow, and is reminiscent of Jawbreaker's painful, indirect yet specific song titles. I don't know. There is something absolutely special about them.

One time KZbin recomended me a mix called "hardcore punk" and title fight was the thumbnail and I was like hm what else would be in this mix? I need more bands like Title Fight so I clicked on it to see the other bands in the mix and it was just all Title fight and I was like damn makes sense

These videos somehow make me feel like I love bands that I don't like. Something about the way Nate talks about them just makes me wanna love every band he talks about.
