After Alice Roberts casually dismissed philosophy around the 3:38 mark I got too irritated to keep listening. While I certainly would agree that (to invert a quote by Simon Blackburn) many philosophers’ claims to have transcended science is just an instance of them doing it badly, I think the reverse is equally true. I have respect for the views of Daniel Dennett on this topic.

A question I would like to ask Professor Alice Roberts is how human beings are reckoned to have left Africa 180,000 years ago when the remains of a 15 year old girl were found in a Norwegian Fjord. She had hair down her back and her remains were 2.4 million years old. I find the two things confusing. I watch all her programmes and I would love to hear her answer to this conundrum.

Where is the scientific evidence that we evolved? I can’t remember the exact dates off hand, but I think it dates back close to 5 million years, the actual archeological evidence, and what it shows is.. I think, a smaller cranium, but no result for a half way being evolving into the standing representations.... we are so overwhelmed with today. Surely scientists need to remain impartial.... with regards the possibilities of their possible finds. Anyway, thought I’d ask. Kind regards LM p.s. I was denied a university education on four occasions so am in no way qualified.

I’m actually a very down to earth beautiful woman... however I don’t understand how people believe there’s no god? Someone speaking of our lord or you who is calling a educated mother of 4 with a psychological education,(who is also on the cover of numerous magazines) educated sons, and a overall really nice person to all, names?
