I did hair for 15 years before being a stay at home mom. I could remember slamming a few glasses of wine before going to work, to get a buzz. But when it wore off, I hated the feeling and I couldn't wait to get home to drink. Every day I'd do that. The insanity cycle. Then after I had our son, I had a medical emergency (not due to alcohol) but I remember asking, if the medication I had to take, if I could drink with it. How insane....I had a newborn and was recovering and was more worried about drinking. I'm so soooo glad those chains are finally gone. You're not kidding, the things we'd do, to get that drink. I hope everyone on this channel gets the help they need. It's so much better on this side. God Bless, LD. Thank you again for your videos. See you Saturday!

Thank you G for another great video. Being a binge drinker for 40 I escaped the terrible withdrawals you talk about. I would drink for 2 or 3 days straight, then off for 4. The last 3 years it turned into four days straight every week with a couple days off. Don't get me wrong I would have anxiety the next day but nothing like the sickness you describe. Yes one of my top 10 reasons I love not drinking, is not constantly worrying about about a cop behind me. I guessing my normal functioning level was over 2.0. So knowing you are legally drunk sucks. But at the same time knowing that's where your bac had to be for you to drive, and feel normal. Tolerance levels are real. All part of the physically dependent part of this horrific disease. Don't drink , don't ever start. Life is 10 times better sober. Thanks as always LD your honesty is so refreshing.

Hey LD. Very good talk. As a nurse I promise there is no judgement when a patient is open and honest about their drinking habits. It is so important for us to help the patient bc most do not admit how much they drink. And yes you can die if a seizure. It is true. I’ve seen it bc the patient does not get help . Ty for this one. I hope there is less shame amongst the alcoholic person! Please don’t be ashamed! We want to help you. Hugs n blessings to you and the LD community 💚💚💚💚. Also. 17:20 this is what I did. It’s a good point because when you initially get sober you want to push yourself to excersise and be crazy productive and when the day shows up when you do t have any motivation for that i had the thought to throw in the towel and drink(cause im eating bad food anyway).whatever you gotta do to stay sober though. On those days i would binge Netflix, but I wouldn’t drink. It’s ok to have bad days. Infact when you initially get sober it’s to be expected.

Detox was rough for me. I had the classic symptoms like the sweats, shakes, anxiety, etc., but the hallucinations were what really bothered me the most. So scary!! I can't say enough how great it is to be sober now. Sometimes it's FOMO that keeps us under the influence because we feel like we're missing out in life by not drinking. The truth is, you're not missing anything at all! Booze or no booze, life goes on for all of us, and honestly we're much better off without it. Getting over that FOMO and not caring so much about what others think really helped me to remain sober. Sure, my circle of "friends" is a lot smaller than it used to be, but most of those people weren't true friends anyway, so that's just fine! Being sober has allowed me to appreciate the people in my life who actually matter; my real support system, and that includes this community right here! Thanks, and I hope to see you live on Saturday! ❤

Greetings from the U.K. Well I for one am pleased you’re still here. Thank you for your reply re.My EUS and chronic pancreatitis diagnosis the other day. I couldn’t find the thread. I am working extremely hard to quit. Down to 4 beers tonight. I’ll get there. Getting off those will be a real challenge. On the occasions when I have been detoxed, Librium was the med typically used due to my tolerance to Valium (Diazepam in the U.K).

I started watching your videos because I have had an alcohol problem for around thirty years. I have never got to the point of drinking during the day but I know I am still addicted. I had a run of a few months when my son moved back home and I found out he was addicted to Cocaine. I was drinking more than ever. I was scared because I am 60, overweight and on HRT. These are all high risk factors for breast cancer. Then I had a mammogram and for the first time got a call-back. I had a melanoma two years ago and it felt like the same trajectory. I remember thinking that if I had cancer it was my own fault for drinking. Luckily it was benign and so I stopped drinking over a week ago. One thing you said that really helped was about dealing with cravings by telling yourself if I feel the same tomorrow I can have a drink, because I never drank in the day. I get the cravings in the evening, sometimes it's overwhelming but I'm lucky that I haven't got withdrawal symptoms apart from psychological ones. You are an inspiration 💪

I’m an RN and just want to tell you that it is the bodies physical dependence on alcohol that is dangerous. Addiction is different. All alcoholics are addicted but not all are dependent. I agree with you that a doctor needs to be consulted cuz it can absolutely kill you. I worked in addiction and saw many many seizures. And the hallucinations were part of the detox not from the medication. It is very common. The cravings come from the addiction and cause many physical symptoms for months afterwards.

Hello... I've been watching for a few weeks now.... Thank you LD and thank you also to the kind and open community that you have gathered. :) Has anyone tried the medication that makes you nauseous if you drink alcohol while taking it? I am much, much too dependent on alcohol in the evenings. It has been a long, slow process, but it has become my cure-all for boredom, lonliness, etc. I haven't been able to stop even though I have started to see clear signs that my health is suffering. I've always been a hugely habitual person. I'm embarrassed by the truth of it, but I think that medication would help me transition out of this because I'm definitely stuck. I wish everyone a happy day tomorrow. :)

Bearing in mind you don't remember, believe me those family members remember it all, absolute awful traumatic memories watching my father go through detox, initially before they knocked him out he was racially abusive towards his doctor, called me and my brother dreadful names, thought the rescue helicopter taking off outside the ward window was a spaceship and to be fair was the absolute arsehole he was for 40 years of my and my dearest late Mums lifes

Thank you for your kind comments, sorry for the rant miraculously my Dad stopped drinking 18 months ago, admittedly he's a much better person, still entitled and quite ill but fortunately my brother and I have our Mums genes and are standing by him and making sure he's getting the best possible care. Hats off to you mate for your informative and honest vlogs, sounds like you are helping others and I respect you for that, sending strength and kindness across the miles from New Zealand

@@suetocker1914 It's a good thing to be able to get these things off of your chest! It's not easy going through the addiction with a family member. I had these issues, but so did my father. I know from living through it and seeing it that it changes a person's personality!! I hope that your father appreciates all that you and your mother have done for him, and I hope that you and your mother are doing okay. Sending you love and prayers from NY ❤️❤️❤️

From experience, Ativan is the choice for alcohol Withdrawal because it can be stacked and has a long half life. Meaning they can dose a lot in the beginning g and taper it without complications. So a normal Dose is 2 mg. But someone on the verge of dts Ativan can continually be dosed via IV, until they symptoms subside. Given what shape you were in I imagine they hit you with 20 mg in the front end, and slowly tapered you, or stacked if your symptoms weren’t alleviating. Either way they tapered you throughout the week. I have become an expert in this for all the wrong reasons.

I didn't know that you could have seizures days after stopping drinking! That's so scary...I definitely wonder sometimes how much of a risk I took with how I quit drinking. It sounds like the safest option is to be able to have your vitals monitored! I hope everyone has had a great week!! Happy FriYAY!! I have pizza on Friday nights now as my treat instead of a drink or 10. ❤❤❤

@@liverdisease-qb6rk I got to share it last night! Haha One of my sculpture kids are moving, so we had a pizza party. I am so sorry, though, for all the pizza/cookie/snack talk. @@liverdisease-qb6rk ahhhh yes, this all makes sense. I know you're a chef, but my sister works professionally in a kitchen as well, so if I can thing of any satisfying alternatives then I'll let you know!! Maybe a way to make a lower acid, lower sugar sauce? Basil is a miracle ingredient lol I'll let you know if I learn anything! There are so many flour alternatives as well. I'm sure there must be a lower glycemic index option. If we ever start up another platform, we should add a section for recipes for food sensitivities and liver friendly meals!!

Kratom is a thing that causes a tolerance so less is more. Find the smallest dose that is effective and don't take daily unless you have a chronic issue. Kratom works great for chronic pain.
